A week later, a neighbor told Nicole she saw OJ \u2014 who wore the same perfume as her \u2014 hiding in the bushes that night.<\/p>\n<p>Nicole confronted OJ, according to Perrulli, who said the NFL star claimed he \u201cjust happened to be driving by and wanted to make sure everything was okay.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>OJ also allegedly told Nicole, with whom he shared <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/parents\/who-are-oj-simpson-kids\/\">daughter Sydney and son Justin<\/a>, he \u201cdidn\u2019t have a problem\u201d with Perrulli. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Perrulli said the Jenners warned him about OJ, but he still became \u201cextremely enchanted\u201d with Nicole (OJ and Nicole are seen above with their two children in 1994).<br \/><span class=\"credit\">Ron Davis<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Perrulli said OJ was \u201clurking\u201d around when he was dating Nicole (OJ and Nicole are pictured above). <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>However, Perrulli felt like \u201ca man divided in two,\u201d he said, adding, \u201cOne side of me was falling in love, and the other side was wondering if love was even possible with someone in a situation like hers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Perrulli said that during a dinner date with Nicole, she told him OJ beat her \u201creally badly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe was shaking. It happened so quickly, is how she said it,\u201d Perrulli remembered. \u201cShe blacked out. When she came to, she felt she couldn\u2019t talk about it because it would hurt the children. She thought she was going to die.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nicole also allegedly told Perrulli, \u201cI\u2019d rather die than go back to that man.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Perrulli admitted he was \u201cwoefully unprepared\u201d for how to respond because he \u201cknew nothing about domestic violence.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>During a weekend trip to Laguna Beach with Nicole\u2019s parents, Perrulli said someone warned him OJ was in town and attending the same family barbecue.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI didn\u2019t think I could live my life like this, feeling like this\u00a0man\u2019s lurking everywhere I go,\u201d Perrulli explained. \u201cAs hard as it was, I left the next day and decided to end the relationship.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Perrulli said, after the breakup, he dreamt that he and Nicole \u201cwere driving and flying off this cliff and died together in her car.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Perrulli and Nicole, who tried to be friends after their split, didn\u2019t see each other again until the Jenners\u2019 Christmas Eve party in 1993, where Perrulli was shocked to see Nicole was back together with OJ.<\/p>\n<p>According to Perrulli, OJ \u201cwas\u00a0unhinged\u201d and \u201csweating\u201d when they spoke at the party. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe placed his champagne\u00a0flute down and stared at me, and said, \u2018It\u2019s only an\u00a0illusion,&#8217;\u201d Perrulli recalled. \u201cHe turned around and stormed out.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Perrulli said he eventually broke up with Nicole because of OJ, who is pictured above with Nicole in 1981. <span news that <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2025\/11\/17\/celebrity-news\/oj-simpsons-estate-agrees-to-pay-victim-ron-goldmans-family-58m\/\">Nicole and her friend Ron Goldman were both murdered <\/a>outside Nicole\u2019s home \u2014 and he immediately assumed OJ killed them.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u201cI certainly felt Ron Goldman could have been me,\u201d Perrulli shared. \u201cAbsolutely.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Perrulli explained he \u201cstayed away as much as I could\u201d during OJ\u2019s 1995 murder trial and \u201cdownplayed my love for Nicole\u201d to <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2016\/04\/10\/former-da-gil-garcetti-i-never-wanted-marcia-clark-on-oj-trial\/\">prosecutor Marcia Clark<\/a> after the tabloids discovered their relationship. <\/p>\n<p>When OJ was acquitted, Perrulli said he watched the verdict and \u201cremembered those chilling words: \u2018It\u2019s only an illusion.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Perrulli said he \u201cstayed away\u201d from OJ\u2019s 1995 murder trial, which ended with OJ being acquitted for convicted\u00a0of armed robbery and kidnapping after leading five men into an armed confrontation with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/general-news-television-1382c2fbfd364cba82c9dfa5e0bcb2c5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">two sports memorabilia dealers<\/a>\u00a0in a Las Vegas hotel. <\/p>\n<p>The football player served nine years in a Nevada prison before <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2017\/10\/01\/oj-simpson-released-from-prison-after-9-years\/\">being released on parole in October 2017.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>He\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2024\/04\/11\/entertainment\/o-j-simpson-dead-at-76-after-cancer-battle\/\">died of prostate cancer in April 2024<\/a>, at the age of 76.<\/p>\n<p>Perrulli\u2019s book
