(Seen above: the exes in 2012). <span class=\"credit\">\/ SplashNews.com<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>\u201cIt was one of the hardest times of my life, because \u2014\u00a0I don\u2019t want to say regretful, because I don\u2019t regret anything \u2014\u00a0do I wish it had happened a different way,\u201d Lauren (seen above with Cowell) added. <span class=\"credit\">laurenmichellecowell\/Instagram<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Lauren and Cowell sparked affair rumors in 2012, but the latter\u2019s lawyer denied the allegations, calling them \u201cfalse\u201d and \u201creckless,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/music\/simon-cowell-lauren-silverman-relationship-timeline\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">per People.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>However, the following year, news broke that the couple was expecting their first child together, with an insider telling the outlet that Lauren was \u201cunhappy in her marriage\u201d with Andrew.<\/p>\n<p>The entrepreneur and Andrew<a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2013\/11\/14\/silverman-finalizes-divorce-after-simon-cowell-affair\/\"> filed for divorce<\/a> shortly after 10 years of marriage when the pregnancy was revealed, and the latter released a statement, saying that he was focused on prioritizing their now-20-year-old son, Adam.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I got divorced \u2026 it wasn\u2019t a great situation at all. It was terrible,\u201d Lauren said on Tuesday\u2019s podcast. \u201cI feel really proud to say that \u2026 we are many years past that point. My ex and I, we do have a very nice relationship.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>The businesswoman (seen here in 2014) stated that \u201ceverything happens for a reason.\u201d <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Lauren and the \u201cAmerican Idol\u201d alum (seen here in 2013) first sparked romance rumors in 2012. <span class=\"credit\">FilmMagic<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>She continued, \u201cAs much as I wish I could go back and take away the hurt and take away the pain that it caused for my ex-husband and for Adam \u2026 it happened.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lauren recalled how she was in \u201cfight or flight mode\u201d due to the media frenzy surrounding her pregnancy, admitting she \u201cwas just trying not to fall apart.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEverywhere I went \u2026 it was just the way that people would look at me,\u201d she said. \u201cI was on the cover of every magazine and there were news stories about it \u2026\u00a0 it was just awful.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI felt like, \u2018OK, this has happened. I\u2019m a big girl. I\u2019ve got to suck it up and get on with it.
