{"id":5934,"date":"2026-06-17T22:41:45","date_gmt":"2026-06-17T22:41:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/login9ja.com\/global\/daveigh-chase-shared-legacy-she-hoped-to-leave-behind\/"},"modified":"2026-06-17T22:41:45","modified_gmt":"2026-06-17T22:41:45","slug":"daveigh-chase-shared-legacy-she-hoped-to-leave-behind","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/login9ja.com\/global\/daveigh-chase-shared-legacy-she-hoped-to-leave-behind\/","title":{"rendered":"Daveigh Chase shared legacy she hoped to leave behind"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/wp-content%2Fuploads%2Fsites%2F3%2F2026%2F06%2F131337303.jpg?quality%3D90%26strip%3Dall\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Daveigh Chase shared that she wanted to change people\u2019s lives, years before her <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/06\/17\/celebrity-news\/daveigh-chase-star-of-the-ring-and-lilo-stitch-dead-at-35\/\">tragic death at age 35<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just want to make something that I love and people will respect,\u201d the \u201cLilo &amp; Stitch\u201d voice actress<a href=\"https:\/\/www.interviewmagazine.com\/film\/daveigh-chase\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> told Interview magazine<\/a> back in 2009. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to do things that will change someone\u2019s life, not something they\u2019ll forget about tomorrow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She also shared during the brief interview that it was a stroke of bad luck that landed her in Hollywood in the first place \u2014 her mother had been injured in a car accident in 1998 in Los Angeles, and been told she couldn\u2019t drive for six months.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Daveigh Chase, pictured above in 2012, shared what she wanted her legacy to be in a 2009 interview.  <span class=\"credit\">FilmMagic<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>She told Interview magazine at the time, \u201cI want to do things that will change someone\u2019s life, not something they\u2019ll forget about tomorrow.\u201d She\u2019s pictured above in 2012.  <span class=\"credit\">WireImage<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>So instead of returning home to Albany, Oregon after their road trip, she began pursuing her dream of acting at the age of 8. <\/p>\n<p>She ultimately landed roles including the voice of Lilo in Disney\u2019s beloved animated film \u201cLilo &amp; Stitch,\u201d the voice of Chihiro in Hayao Miyazaki\u2019s Oscar-winning \u201cSpirited Away,\u201d and child horror villain Samara in \u201cThe Ring\u201d opposite Naomi Watts. <\/p>\n<p>She\u2019s also appeared in \u201cDonnie Darko\u201d as the sister of Jake Gyllenhaal\u2019s title character, and as the underage wife of Harry Dean Stanton\u2019s religious leader in HBO\u2019s \u201cBig Love.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>A man who identified himself as Chase\u2019s boyfriend, Roy Hernandez, told TMZ on Wednesday that the actress passed away on Tuesday at the age of 35 following a bout with meningitis, followed by sepsis. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>\u201cI just want to make something that I love and people will respect,\u201d she added. She\u2019s seen here in 2003.  <span class=\"credit\">20th Century Fox Licensing\/Merchandising \/ Everett Collection<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Chase, seen above in a previous social media snapshot, died on Tuesday, TMZ reported.  <span class=\"credit\">Instagram\/daveighc<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The outlet reported that Chase had recently been admitted to a Los Angeles hospital for malnutrition. <\/p>\n<p>Just prior to the actress\u2019s death, Hernandez <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/06\/17\/celebrity-news\/daveigh-chases-boyfriend-set-up-gofundme-to-help-actress-find-comfort-and-peace-in-final-days-before-death\/\">set up a GoFundMe<\/a> in her name \u2014 though The California Post <a href=\"http:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/06\/17\/entertainment\/video-allegedly-shows-lilo-stitch-actress-daveigh-chase-living-on-skid-row\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported on Wednesday<\/a> amid news of her death that Chase\u2019s longtime manager, John Ryan, called out the move.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cApparently, a man claiming to be her \u2018boyfriend\u2019 that none of us friends or her family has heard of has set up a GoFundMe on \u2018her and her families behalf\u2019 that he set her up as the organizer. You left an imprint on all our hearts, God bless you, soar with the angels \ud83d\udc94\ud83d\udd4a\ufe0f\u201d one person remarked. <\/p>\n<p>Others shared GIFs from Chase\u2019s best-known roles. One, featuring an image from \u201cLilo &amp; Stitch,\u201d quoted one of the film\u2019s most memorable lines. \u201cOhana means family.
