\n<\/aside>\nThe 32-year-old then recalled thinking, \u201cGreat! They\u2019re single, they\u2019re handsome,\u201d and noted that the mystery man worked for the New York Times.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo he calls me. And he says, \u2018I\u2019ve got a vintage car. Can I come pick you up?\u2019 So I said OK.\u201d <\/p>\n
During their date, Rogers said they drove around Manhattan and as they were talking, she began \u201cfalling in love a little bit.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cSuddenly he says, \u2018Oh my God. We\u2019re actually really close to the office. Can I take you to the New York Times?’\u201d<\/p>\nRogers (pictured earlier this month) shared that she was set up by a friend to go on a date with a \u201chandsome\u201d man who worked for the New York Times. \u201cWe go in and he gives me a full empty tour of the building. We make out in the conference room. It\u2019s like a really good time. He drives me home, we make out in the car.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to the singer, her date wanted to go up to her apartment, but she declined.<\/p>\n
The next morning, she excitedly called her friends to tell them she \u201cfound someone\u201d and told them his name. However, one of her friends immediately responded, \u201cOh my God. She shut down his offer and never spoke to him again.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s my story. That\u2019s my confession. I mean, what a loser. You just can\u2019t trust a journalist,\u201d she concluded.<\/p>\n
The concert segment quickly went viral with many fans begging the songwriter to name-drop the cheater. Others hoped the guy\u2019s girlfriend saw the clip.<\/p>\nHowever, when she called her friends the next morning to tell them about her amazing date, one of them revealed that he was dating one her friends. Since then, she has released three major studio albums and was nominated for Best New Artist\u00a0at the 2020 Grammys.<\/p>\n
Despite her onstage confession, Rogers has kept her dating life out of the spotlight. Her last public relationship was with\u00a0Del Water Gap frontman\u00a0Holden Jaffe, whom she dated for five years.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
