Benett<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>She, notably, split from Pitt (pictured above on June 6) in September 2016. <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cI had kind of quit acting before my divorce,\u201d she continued. \u201cI was focusing on directing, and I thought I\u2019d be doing my international work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, the \u201conly way to be home more and for short periods of time being away or to make a good amount of money was to go back to acting.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After calling it quits with Pitt, 62, in September 2016, Jolie began \u201ctaking things that were short or close by or [that she] could take\u201d her kids to.<\/p>\n<p>The former couple finally <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2024\/12\/31\/celebrity-news\/brad-pitt-finally-settled-divorce-thanks-to-girlfriend-ines-de-ramon\/\">finalized their contentious divorce<\/a> in December 2024 after more than eight years of legal proceedings.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Before the divorce, Jolie (pictured above in October 2021 had been \u201cfocused on directing\u201d and \u201cinternational work.\u201d <span class=\"credit\">Samir Hussein\/WireImage<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>However, the Oscar winner (pictured above in November 2006) turned back to acting post-breakup to stay close to her kids. <span class=\"credit\">AFP via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>We hear Pitt, who has been <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/05\/30\/celebrity-news\/brad-pitt-all-smiles-on-date-night-with-ine-de-ramon-after-being-snubbed-by-son-maddox\/\">dating Ines de Ramon<\/a> since 2022, has \u201cvirtually no contact\u201d with their children.<\/p>\n<p>In May 2024, Shiloh became the first of the six to <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2024\/05\/30\/parents\/brad-pitt-and-angelina-jolies-child-shiloh-filed-to-drop-his-last-name-on-18th-birthday\/\">legally drop Pitt\u2019s last name<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Maddox<a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/05\/29\/parents\/another-of-brad-pitts-children-files-to-legally-drop-actors-last-name-report\/\"> filed the same request<\/a> in May, listing the reasons as \u201cpersonal,\u201d with Zahara subsequently <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/06\/09\/celebrity-news\/brad-pitt-hit-with-another-blow-as-third-child-files-to-legally-drop-famous-last-name\/\">becoming the third child to do so<\/a> in June.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Pitt has reportedly been <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2024\/06\/12\/parents\/how-devastated-brad-pitt-feels-about-shilohs-name-change-report\/\">\u201cdevastated\u201d by his kids\u2019 name changes<\/a> but is allegedly \u201cnot ready to give up\u201d on them.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Now that Jolie\u2019s children (pictured above in October 2019) are \u201call almost 18,\u201d they want her to \u201cget out and do things\u201d for herself. <span class=\"credit\">WireImage<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Pitt (pictured above in June 2025 with Ines de Ramon) has strained relationships with the brood. <span class=\"credit\">WireImage<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Earlier this month, a source exclusively told us, that Angelina \u201cseems quite pleased with herself about the total success of her long-standing, intense, deliberate effort to alienate her children from their father.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, a separate insider alleged, \u201cAngelina participated in years of family therapy with Brad and the children for everyone to try to heal after the events that led her to file for divorce.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe children are now adults and make their own decisions, which deserve respect.
