It\u2019s absolutely a double standard,\u201d Cannon admitted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou have to because first of all \u2014 and I know I get in trouble a lot because I say things with my chest \u2014 but, there is a difference when parenting a son and when parenting a daughter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am more protective of my daughter because there\u2019s things out there that I have to protect my daughter from,\u201d he explained. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cLike, as we know, there\u2019s certain types of individuals that you want to keep your daughter away from. My son, it\u2019s a different conversation when he\u2019s going out into the dating world.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>\u201cIt\u2019s absolutely a double standard,\u201d Cannon (seen above posing for a family photo with Mariah Carey and their two kids in 2019) admitted. <span class=\"credit\">Mariah Carey\/Instagram<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Canon went on to confess that he parents his Moroccan differently from Monroe (seen above with Mariah Carey) because he\u2019s more \u201cprotective\u201d of her.  <span class=\"credit\">mariahcarey\/Instagram<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The \u201cWild \u2018N Out\u201d star continued, citing the potential for domestic violence in his kids\u2019 dating lives as an example of the differences in their upbringings. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut if somebody puts their hands on my daughter, I\u2019m going to jail,\u201d Cannon explained, adding that the scenario would be his \u201cworst nightmare\u201d because \u201cI\u2019m going to jail for forever.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>As for his fears regarding his son\u2019s dating life, Cannon said that\u2019s not likely to be the case in his son\u2019s life nor is he worried about potential \u201cgold diggers\u201d since \u201che\u2019s got a lot of money. If she can explain to me what\u2019s going to happen on these dates, then she can go,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m preparing her for college. I know that\u2019s out of my control. I can\u2019t do nothing about it. Hopefully we\u2019re still having all these open conversations.
