Sandra first posted a throwback of her posing with her arms around him at the \u201cForces of Nature\u201d premiere in March 1999, then pics of him holding both her son, Louis, and her daughter, Layla, when they were toddlers. While Louis\u2019 mouth is covered by his hands, the actress \u2014 who is extremely private when it comes to her children \u2014 put a brown heart emoji over Layla\u2019s face.<\/p>\n<p>Lastly, she shared a black-and-white photo of her dad back in his military days. John was a United States Army employee and a civilian contractor for the Pentagon.  <\/p>\n<p>Sandra poked fun at her darker hair color and makeup in her 1999 pic, writing, \u201cHe loved me through my goth period\u2026 Loved on the loves of my life\u2026 And loved our country at 18\u2026.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Sandra Bullock shared rare throwback pics of her late dad, John Willson Bullock, cuddling with her son, Louis, and her daughter, Layla, on Father\u2019s Day Sunday. <span class=\"credit\">Instagram\/sandrabullock<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>She also shared a happy pic of them posing together at the \u201cForces of Nature\u201d Los Angeles premiere in March 1999. <span class=\"credit\">Ron Galella Collection via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>\u201cHappy Heavenly Father\u2019s Day, Dad. \u2764\ufe0f,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>Sandra, 61, adopted Louis, now 16, in 2010. She adopted Layla, now 11, in 2015.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cPractical Magic\u201d star has spoken out about the loss of her father in the past. Back in December 2018, she reflected on her dad and two dogs <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/movies\/sandra-bullock-opens-up-about-dad-two-dogs-dying-within-weeks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dying within weeks of each other.<\/a> Her dad died of natural causes, while  one of her dogs had a stroke, and the other had a heart tumor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLife, I realized, happens whether you schedule it or not,\u201d she said during an appearance on \u201cThe Ellen DeGeneres Show.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Lastly, she shared a pic of her dad back in his military days. <span class=\"credit\">Instagram\/sandrabullock<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Bullock wrote of her late dad, \u201cHe loved me through my goth period\u2026 Loved on the loves of my life\u2026 And loved our country at 18\u2026.\u201d They\u2019re seen here in March 1996. <span class=\"credit\">Ron Galella Collection via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>While she thought she would be \u201cfine,\u201d she said her emotions eventually caught up with her \u2014 and her kids definitely noticed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd then a week later I\u2019m in the bathtub crying and the kids are like, \u2018Is Mommy okay?\u2019 Everyone is like, \u2018Just leave Mommy in the bathtub. She\u2019s going to be fine,\u2019\u201d she recalled.<\/p>\n<p>Sandra also <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/05\/10\/celebrity-news\/sandra-bullock-shares-rare-photo-of-her-kids-for-mothers-day-calls-motherhood-honor-of-a-lifetime\/\">shared rare glimpses of her children <\/a>as toddlers in her Mother\u2019s Day Instagram post last month. She posted an adorable photo of her snuggling up with her kids while they were in costume. Laila rocked a colorful tulle dress, and Louis sported a magician getup.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Sandra, seen here in April, lost her dad in September 2018. Meyer died in April 2000 after battling cancer. The opera singer and voice teacher was 58 years old.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo all the mamas, No matter how you came to be,\u201d she wrote, \u201cHappy Mother\u2019s Day.
