It is known for its modern contemporary art museums and an enclave for famous artists like Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall and American writer James Baldwin, as well as a Proven\u00e7al\u00a0flair.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Just outside of artist-enclave Saint-Paul-de-Vence is Toile Blanche, a rustic boutique hotel founded by three brothers. <span class=\"credit\">Courtesy of Toile Blanche<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>When explaining the concept of their hotel, the brothers said,\u00a0\u201cGuests will forget what you said, forget what you did, but they will never forget how you made them feel. When we create, we don\u2019t just want to build something beautiful \u2014 we want to make something that makes people feel.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another hidden gem just 15 minutes outside of Cannes is the seaside town of Th\u00e9oule-sur-Mer.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The town not only boasts hiking trails and jaw-dropping cliffside views overlooking the Bay of Cannes, but it is also home to Ch\u00e2teau de Th\u00e9oule, a luxury property that opened in the spring of 2024.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Ch\u00e2teau de Th\u00e9oule is a hidden gem just 15 minutes outside of Cannes, and it boasts a private sandy beach, a spa and an acclaimed restaurant. <span class=\"credit\">Elise Quiniou<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Originally operating as a soap factory when it opened\u00a0in 1630, Ch\u00e2teau de Th\u00e9oule changed hands a few times and owes its Tudor-style turrets to Scottish Lord M. Harry Crowford, who owned it in 1913. That structure has become part of the latest incarnation \u2014 a\u00a0 44-room boutique hotel, which weaves neo-Art Deco-style interiors that nod to the color palette of the surrounding landscape and vegetation.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Ch\u00e2teau boasts its own private sandy beach \u2014 a rarity for the area (ask for a day pass) \u2014 a relaxing spa, and Mareluna, the hotel\u2019s Mediterranean-inspired restaurant overlooking the sea.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>A WEEKEND JAUNT: PARIS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Paris is always a good idea. Plaza Ath\u00e9n\u00e9e is drama and romance on the Avenue Montaigne \u2014 the kind of address that feels like Paris distilled into a single building,\u201d he said.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>During the summer, the Ath\u00e9n\u00e9e opens its courtyard for romantic nighttime dining or snag a reservation at the hotel\u2019s buzzy Relais Plaza, where Chef Jean Imbert serves up classic French fare.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Le Meurice, which some call a modern-day Versailles in the heart of Paris, is a more \u201cquietly elegant experience,\u201d Monaghan said. The hotel\u2019s restaurant, La Boubal\u00e9, is a lively, must-try spot where the food blends Mediterranean flavors with the vibrant colors of the Orient.<\/p>\n<p>For a more classic dining experience, Monaghan suggested Le Voltaire on the Left Bank. \u201cIt\u2019s an enduring institution \u2014 wonderful food, beautiful crowd, and the kind of room that never goes out of style,\u201d he said, before listing off a few other favorites.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCherry is the sort of intimate, buzzy discovery our clients come home raving about.
