(Pictured: Payne in 2022.) <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images for GBK Brand Bar<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Because the \u201cNight Changes\u201d singer did not have a will at the time of his death, Cole and music lawyer\u00a0Richard Bray\u00a0were named as administrators of Payne\u2019s estate.<\/p>\n<p>However, they were only given the authority to collect and preserve\u00a0the late pop star\u2019s assets.<\/p>\n<p>Payne\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/celebrity-news\/celebrity-deaths-2026-actors-singers-and-stars-we-lost-this-year\/\">died in October 2024<\/a>\u00a0after falling off the balcony of his third-story hotel room in the Casa Sur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
