She approached me about writing a song together as a way to heal our relationship,\u201d she cryptically <a href=\"https:\/\/www.interviewmagazine.com\/music\/madonna-confessions-on-a-dancefloor-nadia-lee-cohen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told Interview Magazine<\/a> of her eldest child in a new feature, published Monday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a really important moment, and it solidified the idea that now is the time to make this record.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Madonna hinted at a feud with daughter Lourdes \u201cLola\u201d Leon (pictured above together in 2022) in a new interview. <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images for NYFW: The Shows<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>The pop icon told Interview Magazine that her eldest child (seen above in 2022) approached her to work on a song together in order to \u201cheal [their] relationship.\u201d <span class=\"credit\">David X Prutting\/BFA.com \/ Shutterstock<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>The pop icon and her daughter co-wrote a song titled \u201cGood for the Soul\u201d on her fifteenth studio album, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/06\/06\/entertainment\/madonna-teases-confessions-ii-tour-plans-but-fans-can-forget-about-a-vegas-residency\/\">Confessions on a Dance Floor: Part II<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Madonna, 67, told the outlet that the new record was inspired by a lot of \u201cfamily trauma\u201d going on at the time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had a lot of stuff going on in my life personally. My brother was very, very, very ill, and my stepmother, with whom I\u2019d had a very traumatic relationship throughout my entire childhood, <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2024\/09\/26\/celebrity-news\/madonnas-stepmother-joan-ciccone-dies-of-very-aggressive-cancer-at-age-81\/\">had just died<\/a>,\u201d she recalled.<\/p>\n<p>Madonna\u2019s brother Christopher Ciccone <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2024\/10\/06\/celebrity-news\/madonnas-brother-christopher-ciccone-dead-at-63-after-battle-with-cancer\/\">died in October 2024<\/a> following a long battle with cancer \u2014 just weeks after their stepmother\u2019s passing.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>\u201cIt was a really important moment, and it solidified the idea that now is the time to make this record,\u201d Madonna said.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>The mother-daughter dup co-wrote a song titled \u201cGood for the Soul\u201d on her fifteenth studio album, \u201cConfessions on a Dance Floor: Part II.\u201d<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s hard for me to write a song about nothing,\u201d Madonna continued. \u201cI have to tell a story. So I wrote about a lot of family trauma, and then we started making dance music.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lourdes \u2014 whom the Grammy winner <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2023\/06\/20\/madonnas-daughter-lourdes-leon-has-rare-outing-with-dad-carlos\/\">shares with ex Carlos Leon<\/a> \u2014 has previously opened up about her <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2021\/10\/14\/lourdes-leon-says-mom-madonna-is-a-control-freak\/\">strained relationship with her mom<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy mom is such a control freak, and she has controlled me my whole life,\u201d the 29-year-old told Interview Magazine\u00a0in 2021. \u201cI needed to be completely independent from her as soon as I graduated high school.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>The album was also inspired by other \u201cfamily trauma\u201d Madonna experienced, including brother Christopher Ciccone\u2019s illness and the passing of their stepmom. I didn\u2019t inherit that, unfortunately.
