That\u2019s what the personality I feel is inside Buzz, is my 11-year-old. The actor is a dad to Katherine, 36, whom he shares wish his ex-wife, Laura Deibel, and 17-year-old Elizabeth, whom he shares with wife Jane Hajduk.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery time there\u2019s a kissing scene, everybody gets really quiet in the room,\u201d he shared<em>.<\/em>\u00a0\u201cEspecially when [Elizabeth was] a little younger. And that is exactly how I responded [to Buzz kissing Jessie].\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI remember when I first read it, I said, \u2018Are you going to show this?\u2019\u201d he continued. \u201cIt\u2019s like Woody\u2019s bald spot. You kind of move them out of the animated thing, and it gets into some larger dramatic questions. Can they get married? You know, adults, and then kids go, \u2018Eew!\u2019 You got that potpourri of responses.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Buzz and Jessie (voiced by Joan Cusack) do tie the knot in \u201cToy Story 5\u201d after their long-running romance in the Disney franchise, when their owner Bonnie holds a pretend wedding for them.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, Allen also candidly admitted to the outlet that<a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/06\/12\/celebrity-news\/tim-allen-says-he-never-really-wanted-to-be-a-dad-and-opens-up-about-sobriety\/\"> he \u201cnever really wanted\u201d to be a father<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI joke about it on stage; I\u2019ve just never been a real fan of children,\u201d he explained. \u201cAs people have said many times about\u00a0parenting, you go through all this [stuff] to get a driver\u2019s license or a passport, but there\u2019s nothing about [raising] children.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>But Allen eventually came around, and Buzz and Jessie end up getting married in the film when their owner Bonnie holds a pretend wedding ceremony for them. <span class=\"credit\">\u00a9Buena Vista Pictures\/Courtesy Everett Collection<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Allen has been voicing Buzz since the first \u201cToy Story\u201d came out in 1995 alongside Tom Hanks, who plays Woody. <span class=\"credit\">Disney via AP<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cIt was a work in progress,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cHome Improvement\u201d alum later talked about how getting sober in 1997 after his DUI arrest affected his experience raising Katherine as compared to Elizabeth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI made amends to [Katherine]. With the younger one, I see how much different it is when I\u2019ve been sober almost 30 years,\u201d he said. \u201cShe never knew any of that guy.
