his upcoming memoir, \u201cBloodlines,\u201d<\/a> out Oct. 13, documents his 10-year search for answers as well as a deep dive into his family\u2019s history.<\/p>\n\u201cMaybe what happened to me wasn\u2019t random,\u201d he says. \u201cAnd that in order to heal, my mind, my body, my spirit all had to align and I needed to become open to some really radical and unorthodox techniques and ideas that lie beyond the boundaries of western medicine.\u201d<\/p>\n
Manganiello shared a supportive message for those who might be going through a similar situation.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf you\u2019re out there and you\u2019re suffering, there\u2019s hope,\u201d he said.<\/p>\nManganiello \u2014 pictured here in March 2025 \u2014 said he dealt with the side effects for years and also underwent operations that \u201cmutilated\u201d parts of his body. Simon & Schuster<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\nIn a synopsis for \u201cBloodlines,\u201d Manganiello shares that he dealt with \u201ca cascade of autoimmune-related illnesses\u201d that attacked his thyroid, digestive system, skin, lungs and eyes.<\/p>\n
Over the course of seven years, he revealed that he dealt with \u201cchronic pain, a life-saving organ amputation, existential crisis and a prolonged fight for survival that left doctors with few answers and no clear explanation.\u201d<\/p>\n
Manganiello ended up turning to alternative medicine like \u201cshamans, pagan rituals, ancient myths, long-lost family records and the rebirth of his own spirituality\u201d to help treat his illness.<\/p>\n
The former \u201cDeal or No Deal Island\u201d host also did intensive research into his own family genealogy and discovered ancestors who survived the Armenian genocide and others who lived with chronic illness.<\/p>\nManganiello (pictured here in a social media post) has not yet revealed the years he suffered from his illness. He was previously married to actress Sof\u00eda Vergara, 53, from 2015 to 2024. The \u201cModern Family\u201d alum said in January 2024 that the two split because she didn\u2019t want to have kids with him<\/a> and be \u201can old mom.\u201d<\/p>\n\u201cI feel it\u2019s not fair to the baby,\u201d she told El Pa\u00eds.<\/p>\n
Vergara is already a mom to her son, 34-year-old Manolo, whom she shares with ex-husband Joe Gonzalez.<\/p>\n
Manganiello is now engaged to actress Caitlin O\u2019Connor<\/a>, 36, which the couple announced last October.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
