not been for the \u201cselfish\u201d approach of his close pal and \u201cdermatologist to the stars\u201d doctor, Arnold Klein, according to Geoffrey Mark.<\/p>\n<p>Mark alleges that the doctor acted more like an enabler than a responsible medical professional.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Emmy-winning producer Geoffrey Mark class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>\u201cArnie thought that Michael was addicted, but that didn\u2019t stop him from writing the prescriptions,\u201d Mark said of Klein, who first introduced him to the superstar.<\/p>\n<p>In the last few months of Jackson\u2019s life, Klein (who died in 2015) jabbed the singer dozens of times with Demerol and gave him Botox treatments at his Beverly Hills office.<\/p>\n<p>Mark believes that Klein \u201cdidn\u2019t try hard enough\u201d to wean Jackson off substances or intervene, despite those who knew the singer having tough talks about him.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, Mark claims that Klein was more focused on enriching his own wealth and status than aiding in his friend\u2019s class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cTo that end, Arnie couldn\u2019t say \u2018no\u2019 to Michael,\u201d he added, \u201cbecause saying \u2018no\u2019 to Michael would have ended that kind of entr\u00e9e.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mark further claimed that Klein\u2019s self-centered mindset also impacted Jackson\u2019s care.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHis nature was having\u00a0financial,\u00a0social power and getting himself the spotlight, getting the men he wanted to be with, getting famous people to want him and need him, so that he was on the inside of things,\u201d the author alleged. \u201cAnd then once he was on the inside, he used what he learned to further himself.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter \u201cenabling him for so long,\u201d Mark believes that Jackson still played the ultimate role in his own death. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cMichael had millions of dollars to go to other doctors who would have just as happily taken the money and enabled him,\u201d Mark explained. \u201cSo unfortunately \u2026 the addiction was already there, and no one person could have made a difference, except Michael himself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAn addict needs a moment of clarity,\u201d Mark added, \u201cto understand, \u2018If I don\u2019t change, I\u2019m gonna die.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<figure at the age of 50 on June 25, 2009, from cardiac arrest caused by acute propofol and benzodiazepine intoxication. The fatal dose was administered by the \u201cMan in the Mirror\u201d singer\u2019s\u00a0physician, <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2016\/11\/06\/conrad-murray-michael-jacksons-kids-have-been-brainwashed\/\">Dr. Conrad Murray, <\/a>who was trying to treat the pop icon\u2019s insomnia.<\/p>\n<p>Murray was convicted of involuntary manslaughter and served less than two years in prison before his release in October 2013.<\/p>\n<p>As Mark noted, Jackson used a staggering amount of meds and narcotics in the last 20 years of his life, including cocaine, daily Demerol jabs while on tour and hospital anesthesia Diprivan to aid in his sleep.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Mark said he knew Jackson (seen above) \u201cneeded help\u201d back then, but claims he was too powerless to do anything. <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>\u201cWhen I realized there was nothing I could say or do for Michael or Arnold that could be helpful, I walked away,\u201d Mark said of Klein and Jackson (seen above on tour in New Zealand in 1996). <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The \u201cThriller\u201d singer also allegedly used sedatives, including Lorazepam, Midazolam and\u00a0Diazepam, and stronger meds like Xanax, Zoloft, hydrocodone, paroxetine, carisoprodol, and hydromorphone regularly.<\/p>\n<p>Mark further claimed that Jackson became hooked on meds after suffering scalp burns following a pyrotechnic accident on the set of a 1984 Pepsi advert.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Mark (seen above) was close friends with Jackson before the singer\u2019s death in 2009. <span class=\"credit\">Courtesy of Geoffrey Mark<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Jackson\u2019s physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, was convicted of involuntary manslaughter after administering drugs to the singer to try to treat his insomnia (Jackson is seen above arriving at his trial in 2005). <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Despite his concerns, he felt powerless to stage any kind of intervention with the singer at the time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAn ethical doctor or a good psychologist could have helped him,\u201d Mark alleged.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the bigger picture of addiction, I\u2019ve tried to help a lot of celebrities through the years. I\u2019ve had more failures than successes, quite frankly.
