\u201cHairbrush News\u201d podcast<\/a>.<\/p>\n\u201cPaula Abdul,\u201d Nishimoto, 49, said, naming the first famous face. \u201cHer stylist pulled some pieces from my collection for her to wear for\u00a0\u2018American Idol,\u2019\u00a0and she wore them.\u201d<\/p>\n
However, before the clothing was brought back, the Cute Booty Lounge founder said she received a call from the \u201cStraight Up\u201d singer\u2019s team.<\/p>\nFashion designer Kelly Nishimoto shared the names of two A-list celebrities who allegedly requested free clothes while she was a \u201cstruggling\u201d business owner on a recent episode of her \u201cHairbrush News\u201d podcast (pictured above). YouTube\/@hairbrushnews<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\nThe fashion designer called out Paula Abdul and Kate Hudson as some of the culprits, calling the requests \u201ctacky.\u201d YouTube\/@hairbrushnews<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n<\/aside>\nAccording to Nishimoto, Abdul\u2019s stylist said the pop star would really like to keep three pieces. The podcaster responded \u201cno problem\u201d and told the stylist she would send an invoice for them.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd then she was like, \u2018Oh, she was hoping you would gift them to her.\u2019 I\u2019m like, she\u2019s filming \u2018American Idol\u2019 for who knows how much she\u2019s getting an episode,\u201d she ranted.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m over here struggling, can barely pay my rent and my employee \u2014 my one employee \u2014 and my one sewing lady, and you want me to give you a thousand dollars worth of the clothes for free?\u201d Nishimoto reasoned.<\/p>\n
Instead, the social media personality said she thought Abdul, 64, should pay for the items she wanted to keep as well as \u201canother thousand dollars\u201d for the dry cleaning bill for the other items Nishimoto lent her for free.<\/p>\nNishimoto claimed Abdul\u2019s stylist requested three pieces for free after being lent several items to wear on \u201cAmerican Idol.\u201d (Abdul is pictured above at the 1989 Emmys.) \u201cI thought that was so tacky,\u201d she mused.<\/p>\n
Nishimoto also accused Kate Hudson\u2019s stylist of trying to get the \u201cSong Sung Blue\u201d actress a free pair of her leggings.<\/p>\n
What made the call even more bizarre for the TLC alum was that Hudson, 47, had just launched her own activewear brand, Fabletics.<\/p>\n
\u201cI thought, \u2018Oh, well she can buy them. What would she like? And I will send over the invoice,’\u201d Nishimoto recalled. \u201cAnd then I never heard back. I mean, c\u2019mon. I say that not just because she\u2019s a friend, but because she\u2019s always conducted herself with professionalism. In fact, Paula has always paid in full for anything she\u2019s ever worn from our company.\u201d<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, celebrity makeup artist\u00a0Ernesto Casillas chimed in, \u201cThis is on the stylist, not the client. They don\u2019t wanna chip into their own budget.\u201d<\/p>\nNishimoto (seen here in May 2015) said Hudson had just launched Fabletics and she offered to send an invoice for whatever items she wanted. She added, \u201cIs it just me, or is it incredibly tacky to ask for free product when you\u2019re making prime-time TV money?\u201d<\/p>\n
In February, after 22 years, the entrepreneur announced that she was shutting down her brand<\/a>.<\/p>\n\u201cIt\u2019s time for me to move on and enjoy my family more and to work on some new ideas,\u201d she detailed to followers, calling it \u201cthe end of an era.\u201d<\/p>\nFashion designer Michael Costello defended Abdul in the comments of Nishimoto\u2019s post and celebrity makeup artist\u00a0Ernesto Casillas said the blame was on the stylists.
