\u2014 and richer than his dad, King Charles III.<\/p>\n<p>The Prince of Wales has a net worth of $1.6 billion thanks to his <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/05\/18\/royal-family\/prince-william-selling-20-percent-of-royal-estate-for-over-670-million\/\">royal estate, Duchy of Cornwall<\/a>, which he inherited when Charles\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2022\/09\/09\/prince-charles-makes-first-public-address-as-king-of-england\/\">became king in 2022<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The statistic was revealed in the Sovereign Grant\u2019s newly-published yearly accounts, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/news\/royals\/prince-william-net-worth-tax-37349335\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the $28.5 million in 2025-2026.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2025\/04\/29\/royal-family\/prince-william-is-being-groomed-as-the-next-king-of-england\/\">44-year-old heir to the throne<\/a> also reportedly paid over $26 million in taxes since becoming the Prince of Wales four years ago.<\/p>\n<p>Charles, meanwhile, is still not at billionaire status. <\/p>\n<p>The 77-year-old king has an estimated personal fortune of $846 million, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.com\/sunday-times-rich-list\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the latest Sunday Times Rich List.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>He was worth nearly $40 million less the year before, per the list.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>William (seen Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Duchy of Cornwall, which is William\u2019s primary source of income, is a private estate that covers William, Kate Middleton and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/article\/prince-william-kate-middleton-kids\/\">their three children<\/a>\u00a0for their official, charitable and private activities.<\/p>\n<p>It was established in 1337 by King Edward III to provide funds for the heir to the throne for generations to come. <\/p>\n<p>Physically, the estate covers roughly 205 square miles of land across the United Kingdom, which includes over 20 counties.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>William is now richer than Charles (seen above at Buckingham Palace in May class=\"credit\">BACKGRID<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Last month, news broke that William plans to sell 20 percent of the Duchy of Cornwall over the next ten years to invest more than $670 million in housing and nature projects.<\/p>\n<p>William\u2019s goal, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.com\/uk\/royal-family\/article\/prince-william-sell-duchy-cornwall-land-homes-nature-mn8stvp76\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the Times<\/a>, is\u00a0to invest in local affordable housing and environmental projects in the five \u201cheartlands\u201d: Cornwall, Dartmoour, the Isles of Scilly, the Bath area and Kennington.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is so much good we can do,\u201d William said in a statement. \u201cI\u2019m trying to make sure I\u2019m prioritizing stuff that\u2019s going to make people\u2019s lives, living in those areas, the reigns to William when he became king upon <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2022\/09\/08\/queen-elizabeth-ii-dead-at-96\/\">Queen Elizabeth II\u2019s death in September 2022 at age 96.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Once Charles took the throne, he officially surpassed Elizabeth\u2019s personal wealth, as he inherited her private fortune, such as Balmoral Castle and Sandringham Estate, that combined with his own worth.<\/p>\n<p>At the time of her death, reports stated <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/09\/08\/queen-elizabeths-net-worth-who-inherits-her-money-and-homes\/\">Elizabeth
