{"id":7094,"date":"2026-06-27T22:53:00","date_gmt":"2026-06-27T22:53:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/login9ja.com\/global\/country-icon-alan-jackson-details-grueling-15-year-health-battle-with-nerve-damage-disease-ahead-of-final-concert\/"},"modified":"2026-06-27T22:53:00","modified_gmt":"2026-06-27T22:53:00","slug":"country-icon-alan-jackson-details-grueling-15-year-health-battle-with-nerve-damage-disease-ahead-of-final-concert","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/login9ja.com\/global\/country-icon-alan-jackson-details-grueling-15-year-health-battle-with-nerve-damage-disease-ahead-of-final-concert\/","title":{"rendered":"Country icon Alan Jackson details grueling 15-year health battle with nerve damage disease ahead of final concert"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/wp-content%2Fuploads%2Fsites%2F3%2F2026%2F06%2F132503628.jpg?quality%3D90%26strip%3Dall\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Country icon Alan Jackson is gearing up for his retirement concert, \u201cLast Call: One More for the Road \u2013 The Finale.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The finale concert, which will be held Saturday night at Nissan Stadium, will take Jackson, 67, back to his Nashville roots as the city that launched his career. <\/p>\n<p>Joining him onstage will be a star-studded lineup including Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Luke Combs, Miranda Lambert, George Strait, Carrie Underwood, Lainey Wilson, Little Big Town, Thomas Rhett, Jake Owen, Jon Pardi, and Lee Ann Womack, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbc.com\/nbc-insider\/alan-jackson-the-last-show-concert-special-coming-to-nbc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">per NBC<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The show will also be filmed for an NBC primetime special titled, \u201cAlan Jackson: The Last Show,\u201d and will hit Peacock for streaming the following day.  <\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Alan Jackson (pictured here at the 2024 Nashville Songwriter Awards) is preparing for his retirement concert titled \u201cLast Call: One More for the Road \u2013 The Finale\u201d on Saturday night.  <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>The singer will be joined by Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Luke Combs, Miranda Lambert, George Strait, Carrie Underwood, and more, as seen above in the concert flyer.  <span class=\"credit\">Alan Jackson\/Instagram<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Jackson and NBC announced his official retirement performance earlier this month \u2014 years after the country crooner revealed he had been diagnosed with Charcot\u2013Marie\u2013Tooth disease in 2021. <\/p>\n<p>Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease is defined as a \u201cgroup of inherited conditions that cause nerve damage,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mayoclinic.org\/diseases-conditions\/charcot-marie-tooth-disease\/symptoms-causes\/syc-20350517\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to the Mayo Clinic<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>The disease is known to cause \u201csmaller, weaker muscles. It also may cause trouble walking, and loss of feeling in the legs and feet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jackson was originally diagnosed in 2011, but kept his diagnosis hidden for a decade before he publicly told his story. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Jackson (seen here performing at the Opry 100: A Live Celebration in March 2025) was diagnosed with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, a neurological disease that\u2019s inherited through genetics, in 2011.  <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images for the Grand Ole Opry<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>The singer (pictured above performing at Honda Center in April 2016) kept his diagnosis a secret for a decade before coming forward with his diagnosis in 2021. <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s been affecting me for years,\u201d he said in his 2021 appearance on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.today.com\/health\/country-star-alan-jackson-announces-cmt-diagnosis-today-t232178\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the \u201cToday Show.\u201d<\/a> \u201cAnd it\u2019s getting more and more obvious. I know I\u2019m not going to be able to tour like I have.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He went on to share that he inherited the neurological disease from his father, who died in 2000 of a ruptured aorta. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know I\u2019m stumbling around on stage. And now I\u2019m having a little trouble balancing, even in front of the microphone,\u201d he shared.<\/p>\n<p>While he continued performing for years despite the difficulty, the country star admitted at the time that his balance issues were causing him problems onstage.  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t feel comfortable,\u201d he said of performing while managing his condition. \u201cIt\u2019s going to disable me eventually.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>\u201cI know I\u2019m stumbling around on stage.
