parents\u201d as she reacted to <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/06\/17\/celebrity-news\/daveigh-chase-star-of-the-ring-and-lilo-stitch-dead-at-35\/\">the former child star\u2019s tragic death<\/a> on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>In an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DaLunV_h4iF\/?igsh=dDk5Y2tvb214ZXN0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">emotional Instagram tribute<\/a>, Gilbert remembered Chase as \u201cbubbly, sweet and professional\u201d when they worked together over 20 years ago on an unaired TV pilot. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut there was something else there, a push or need to perform \u2026for her parents,\u201d Gilbert, 62, added. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Melissa Gilbert (seen above) posted an House on the Prairie\u201d alum noted that some former child actors, such as herself, \u201cgrow up just fine\u201d thanks to \u201creally solid, wise parenting,\u201d but others see their lives fall apart when their parents \u201close sight of what their true responsibility is.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> \u201cToday, reading the circumstances of Daveigh\u2019s death, I\u2019m truly heartbroken,\u201d Gilbert wrote. \u201cI certainly understand substance addiction disorder but this sweet girl\u2019s death is so much more.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a desperate plea, Gilbert told parents to only get their kids into the entertainment industry if \u201cthey are doing it for the right reasons.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Gilbert child has a life outside of the industry that is thriving and full of friends and responsibilities and \u2018normal\u2019 things.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gilbert, whose post included a picture of Chase, concluded her message by telling stage parents to \u201cmemorize this sweet girl\u2019s face and her story so that it never happens again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chase\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/06\/17\/celebrity-news\/daveigh-chase-star-of-the-ring-and-lilo-stitch-dead-at-35\/\">died June 16 at age 35<\/a>\u00a0after she was diagnosed with meningitis and several \u201cserious\u201d blood infections that turned her body septic, according to her boyfriend Roy Hernandez.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/06\/29\/celebrity-news\/daveigh-chases-cause-of-death-revealed\/\">Her cause of death was revealed to be AIDS<\/a>, with chronic polysubstance use \u2014 described as the use of more than one drug in a short period of time \u2014 listed as a contributing factor. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>\u201cI certainly understand substance addiction disorder but this sweet girl\u2019s death is so much more,\u201d Gilbert wrote about Chase (who is seen above in 2008). <span at age 35. <span class=\"credit\">Juan Rico \/ BACKGRID<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Chase had reportedly been\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/06\/17\/celebrity-news\/ghastly-video-shows-lilo-stitch-actress-daveigh-chase-wasting-away-on-skid-row-months-before-death\/\">living near Los Angeles\u2019 infamous Skid Row<\/a> before her passing.<\/p>\n<p>In the days leading up to her death, Hernandez had\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/06\/17\/celebrity-news\/daveigh-chases-boyfriend-set-up-gofundme-to-help-actress-find-comfort-and-peace-in-final-days-before-death\/\">created a GoFundMe fundraiser<\/a>\u00a0to help the late actress \u201cfind comfort and peace.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At the time of the campaign\u2019s creation, Chase\u2019s condition had \u201cbecome critical,\u201d with doctors telling Hernandez \u201cshe may not have much time left.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Her cause of death was target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told the Daily Mail<\/a> earlier this month. \u201cAnd these weird sounds were coming out of me, these kind of, like, primeval sounds.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chase was best known for starring in the Disney film \u201cLilo &amp; Stitch\u201d and the horror movie \u201cThe Ring,\u201d the latter of which earned her an MTV Movie Award for Best
