has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a 16-year-old boy was shot in Birmingham.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The incident happened in Bowyer Road near St Saviours Road in the Alum Rock area of the city shortly before 5.30pm yesterday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Officers were called to the scene and the boy was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Last night, a 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in police custody, West Midlands Police have said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Detective Inspector Francis Nock from the force&#8217;s Major Crime Team said: &#8220;Our investigation is continuing and I would urge anyone who might have seen something or has dashcam or doorbell footage to get in touch.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">&#8220;Officers will be in the area today to offer reassurance to the local community.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Police say that although the boy was shot near a mosque, they do not believe the incident to be connected to this place of worship at this stage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">In an earlier statement, the police said: &#8220;Our investigation is at an early stage, and officers remain at the scene carrying out forensic and CCTV enquiries, and speaking to people in the area.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">&#8220;We understand this is extremely worrying for people in the area, and local officers will be remaining there to speak to anyone with concerns.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p
