{"id":779,"date":"2026-05-04T22:26:07","date_gmt":"2026-05-04T22:26:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/login9ja.com\/global\/indochine-and-revived-beatrice-inn-celebrate-the-90s\/"},"modified":"2026-05-04T22:26:07","modified_gmt":"2026-05-04T22:26:07","slug":"indochine-and-revived-beatrice-inn-celebrate-the-90s","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/login9ja.com\/global\/indochine-and-revived-beatrice-inn-celebrate-the-90s\/","title":{"rendered":"Indochine and revived Beatrice Inn celebrate the 90s"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/login9ja.com\/global\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2026\/05\/126986692.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Two legendary downtown hotspots celebrated the Nineties together on Sunday night.<\/p>\n<p>Angie Mar of the shuttered Beatrice Inn and Jean-Marc Houmard of Indochine hosted a bash at his Noho fixture, with Mar reviving some of her menu in the Indochine kitchen for one-night-only.<\/p>\n<p>Guests reminisced while enjoying the Beatrice\u2019s Le Burger and favorite dishes from Indochine, which opens its doors in 1984.<\/p>\n<p>The French-Vietnamese restaurant \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/02\/26\/lifestyle\/unearthing-secrets-from-jfk-jr-and-carolyn-bessettes-date-nights-at-their-favorite-nyc-restaurants\/\">recently featured in JFK Jr. and Carolyn Bessette show \u201cLove Story,\u201d which has sparked a fad for all things 90s<\/a> \u2014 saw some of its heyday in the decade.<\/p>\n<p>The hotspots co-owner Houmard told us one of his favorite memories was a birthday bash in 1992 for Grace Coddington, former creative director at-large of Vogue, thrown by Anna Wintour.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Jean-Marc Houmard of Indochine teamed up with former Beatrice Inn owner Angie Mar for a one night collaboration.  <span class=\"credit\">Sidewalkkilla<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Coddington has kept the tradition alive. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe did the same 20 years later when she turned 70. Two weeks ago we did another event for Grace when she turned 85. Three decades, we\u2019ve celebrated,\u201d Houmard said. \u201cIt\u2019s so special.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Chic DJ duo the Muses soundtracked the party, which celebrated the 1990\u2019s.  <span class=\"credit\">Sidewalkkilla<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Modeling industry veteran Bethann Hardison caught up with Indochine co-owner Huy Chi Le. <span class=\"credit\">Sidewalkkilla<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The restaurant still pulls in celebrities and downtown cool kids, though Houmard says things have changed a bit over the decades.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNew York in the \u201990s was smaller,\u201d he told us. \u201cWe kind of had to know where things were happening because there was no information online so you had to know the right people, you had to have the right networks. . . And there were just a few places where everybody gravitated and now it\u2019s so spread out, it\u2019s in Brooklyn. It\u2019s a different New York.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Le B. owner Mar, who met Houmard at downtown dinner party where they cooked up the idea of collaborating on the one-night-only evening, tells us, \u201cI used to come to Indochine. I just wanted to be here. Everyone was so chic and so cool. This was a place where it was all happening.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Jay McInerney and Dianne Brill remembered late nights with Andy Warhol and Bret Easton Ellis.  <span class=\"credit\">Sidewalkkilla<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Mar became executive chef of the famed Beatrice Inn in 2013 before purchasing it from former Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter in 2016. \u201cI was never cool enough to get in \u2014 I had to buy it,\u201d she joked.<\/p>\n<p>One of her most memorable moments involved fashion royalty.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDiane von Furstenberg was throwing this party at my restaurant, which I had just taken over, and I walked out of the kitchen, I walked around the corner, and Valentino was sitting there in an emerald green tuxedo, eating my Le Burger, and the duck flambe.\u00a0His Bentley was right outside. . . I was like, \u2018Oh, my God, I made it.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mar closed the Beatrice in December 2020 during the COVID pandemic. The spot had a long history. It first opened as a speakeasy in the 1920s and later became known as the go-to nightclub for the Olsen twins, Chloe Sevigny, Lindsay Lohan, and Kate Moss in the aughts when it was run by Paul Sevigny, Matt Abramcyk and Andr\u00e9 Saraiva.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Mar recalled the moment she knew she had \u201cmade it.\u201d  <span class=\"credit\">Sidewalkkilla<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>The old sign from the Beatrice was hung for the night. <span class=\"credit\">Sidewalkkilla<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The menu for the night included favorites from both spots like the c\u00f4te de boeuf and crispy rock shrimp as DJ duo the Muses provided the soundtrack.<\/p>\n<p>Modeling industry guru and activist Bethann Hardison was spotted mingling among the chic crowd, as well as \u201cBright Lights, Big City\u201d author Jay McInerney who was seen chatting up 1980s icon Dianne Brill, whom Andy Warhol had dubbed \u201cQueen of the Night.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>McInerney recalled heading to Indochine following a bad review of his second book \u201cRansom\u201d in 1985.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Guests hit the dance floor after dinner. <span class=\"credit\">Sidewalkkilla<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Indochine has kept it\u2019s payphone over the years. <span class=\"credit\">Sidewalkkilla<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cYou know, I was almost afraid to come here because I just thought, \u2018Oh, everybody\u2019s gonna hate me\u2019,\u201d he told us. But when he walked in, the host told him,\u00a0\u201c\u2018Great picture in the NY Times,\u2019 and he seated me in the front booth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Brill remembered sitting with McInerney one night, pointing out the exact table, along with author Norman Mailer, Liberace, Warhol and fellow Literary Brat Pack writers Brett Easton Ellis and Tama Janowitz.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd then Cher walks by!\u201d Brill said. \u201cEvery legend you could imagine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis place in \u201984, \u201985. \u201986, there was no place else,\u201d McInerney said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Also at the event were designers Romeo Hunt and Aiste Hong, Carlos Mota and celeb dentist Dr. Stephanie Dumanian.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/05\/04\/society\/indochine-and-revived-beatrice-inn-celebrate-the-90s\/\" target=\"_blank\">Source link<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two legendary downtown hotspots celebrated the Nineties together on Sunday night.
