Supt Gillies said, in a press conference, that he would not speculate.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">He confirmed the child &#8220;had injuries&#8221; but stopped short at revealing what they were<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">&#8220;There is a domestic relationship to the child,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;The 32-year-old female and the four-year-old child lived at the unit together.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Neither the woman nor the boy can be identified for legal reasons. Gillies said the woman was known to police and detectives will work &#8220;methodically&#8221; to investigate the case.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">&#8220;We try to understand what&#8217;s happened, why it&#8217;s happened, and from my perspective, we owe that to that little boy to make sure that we get the exact circumstances and present them to the court in due course,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The woman did not appear in court for a bail hearing.
