{"id":8187,"date":"2026-07-08T16:57:58","date_gmt":"2026-07-08T16:57:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/login9ja.com\/global\/emmys-2026-snubs-and-surprises-sydney-sweeney-jeremy-allen-white-more\/"},"modified":"2026-07-08T16:57:58","modified_gmt":"2026-07-08T16:57:58","slug":"emmys-2026-snubs-and-surprises-sydney-sweeney-jeremy-allen-white-more","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/login9ja.com\/global\/emmys-2026-snubs-and-surprises-sydney-sweeney-jeremy-allen-white-more\/","title":{"rendered":"Emmys 2026 snubs and surprises: Sydney Sweeney, Jeremy Allen White, more"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/wp-content%2Fuploads%2Fsites%2F3%2F2026%2F07%2F133766608.jpg?quality%3D90%26strip%3Dall\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Report your concerns to Olivia Benson.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The 2026 Emmys will be hosted by \u201cLaw &amp; Order: Special Victims Unit\u201d star Mariska Hargitay \u2013 and the <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/07\/08\/entertainment\/emmy-nominations-2026-see-the-full-list\/\">nominations were announced<\/a> on Wednesday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Most of the nominations went to expected shows, like \u201cThe Pitt,\u201d \u201cHacks\u201d and newcomer \u201cWidow\u2019s Bay,\u201d but big stars like Jeremy Allen White, Paul Anthony Kelly and Sydney Sweeney got shut out.<\/p>\n<p>And, even though \u201cHeated Rivalry\u201d breakout star Connor Storrie wasn\u2019t eligible for the HBO\/Crave series, he still managed to snag a surprise nod.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Mariska Hargitay (pictured as Olivia Benson in \u201cLaw and Order: SVU\u201d) will host the 2026 Emmys.  <span class=\"credit\">GC Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>The 2026 Emmy nominations were announced on Wednesday, and \u201cThe Pitt\u201d (pictured with Noah Wyle) led the pack.  <span class=\"credit\">Warrick Page\/MAX<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>To be eligible, shows need to have aired between June 1, 2025 and May 31, 2026.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A slew of popular shows had their farewell seasons this year, including <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/05\/26\/entertainment\/euphoria-criminally-wasted-jacob-elordi-nate-with-ridiculous-storyline\/\">\u201cEuphoria,\u201d<\/a> \u201cStranger Things,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/05\/28\/entertainment\/how-jean-smarts-hacks-season-5-series-finale-ended\/\">\u201cHacks\u201d<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/06\/25\/entertainment\/the-bear-series-finale-explained-did-carmy-leave\/\">\u201cThe Bear.\u201d<\/a> Some of them got their swan songs with awards love, and some were shoved out the door empty-handed.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Keep reading for all the Emmys 2026 snubs and surprises.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Sydney Sweeney (pictured in \u201cEuphoria\u201d Season 3 with Alanna Ubach) got shut out.  <span class=\"credit\">HBO<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Whatever you think of Cassie\u2019s (Sweeney) controversial OnlyFans storyline in the third and final season of HBO\u2019s \u201cEuphoria,\u201d it can\u2019t be denied that Sweeney, 28, did a lot. She gave a headline-grabbing performance. It was an uphill battle to get accolades, considering how Season 3 was critically maligned. Still, her co-stars Zendaya and Colman Domingo managed to snag nominations this year. \u201cThe Housemaid\u201d actress got an Emmy nomination for \u201cEuphoria\u201d Season 2, so, she could have gotten one for Season 3, but she was left in the dust.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Paul Anthony Kelly (pictured with Sarah Pidgeon in \u201cLove Story\u201d) got snubbed.  <span class=\"credit\">FX<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The \u201cLove Story\u201d star, 38, made waves for playing John F. Kennedy Jr. in the FX series \u201cLove Story: Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. &amp; Carolyn Bessette.\u201d But even though the show itself scored a \u201cbest limited or anthology series\u201d nod, and his co-star Sarah Pidgeon got a nomination, Kelly was left behind.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Daniel Radcliffe and Tracy Morgan (pictured in \u201cThe Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins\u201d) were snubbed.  <span class=\"credit\">Peacock<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>This NBC comedy <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/02\/20\/entertainment\/daniel-radcliffe-relates-to-neurotic-role-on-the-fall-and-rise-of-reggie-dinkins\/\">starring Daniel Radcliffe<\/a> and Tracy Morgan was shut out in its inaugural year. It had big stars, positive reviews and it packed as many jokes per minute as \u201c30 Rock\u201d (creators Robert Carlock and Sam Means worked on that show). The mockumentary follows a disgraced football star (Morgan) trying to make a comeback, as a filmmaker (Radcliffe) tries to chronicle it, and still, no dice at the Emmys. But, this was a competitive year for comedy series. \u201cReggie Dinkins\u201d has been renewed for a Season 2. \u201cHacks,\u201d however, will be gone in 2027, leaving a slot open next year.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>\u201cHalf Man\u201d (pictured with Jamie Bell and Richard Gadd) got snubbed.  <span class=\"credit\">Anne Binckebanck\/HBO<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cBaby Reindeer\u201d creator\/star Richard Gadd created and starred in his second show this year, the limited series <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/04\/21\/entertainment\/baby-reindeer-creator-richard-gadds-next-show-half-man-is-brutal-review\/\">\u201cHalf Man\u201d on HBO<\/a>. Similar to \u201cBaby Reindeer,\u201d it was disturbing yet riveting and well done \u2013 but unlike \u201cBaby Reindeer,\u201d which swept the awards, it was mostly shut out. Gadd did earn a \u201csupporting actor\u201d nomination for a limited series, but otherwise, the show was ignored. His co-star Jamie Bell didn\u2019t get nominated, and the show didn\u2019t get a \u201climited series\u201d nomination.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Jeremy Allen White (pictured in \u201cThe Bear\u201d Season 5) got snubbed. <br \/><span class=\"credit\">FX<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThe Bear\u201d star got shut out in his final year. The show still scored a \u201cbest comedy series\u201d nomination, and White\u2019s co-star Ayo Edebiri snagged a \u201cbest actress in a comedy series\u201d nomination. But White, who got three consecutive Emmy nominations and two wins for \u201cThe Bear,\u201d didn\u2019t make the cut this year. He got edged out by several new additions to the category, including Steve Carell (for HBO\u2019s \u201cRooster,\u201d) Matthew Rhys (for Apple TV\u2019s \u201cWidow\u2019s Bay\u201d) and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (for Disney+\u2019s \u201cWonder Man\u201d).<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Ethan Hawke (pictured in \u201cThe Lowdown\u201d) got snubbed.  <span class=\"credit\">FX<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Ethan Hawke delivered an affable, vanity-free comedy performance in the FX series \u201cThe Lowdown.\u201d He\u2019s a major star, and the show was critically acclaimed. But, it was a crowded year for the leading actor in a comedy race. The Oscar-nominated Hollywood veteran got overlooked.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Jason Bateman (pictured in \u201cBlack Rabbit\u201d) got a surprise nod. <span class=\"credit\">\u00a9Netflix\/Courtesy Everett Collection<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Jason Bateman, 57, earned a \u201clead actor in a limited or anthology series or movie\u201d for his Netflix crime drama, \u201cBlack Rabbit.\u201d (He also earned a \u201csupporting actor\u201d nod for his role in HBO\u2019s \u201cDTF St. Louis,\u201d making it a double-duty year for the \u201cArrested Development\u201d actor. The show landed with a thud when it premiered in the fall. Despite boasting stars Bateman and Jude Law, the crime drama didn\u2019t have much critical or fan buzz, and seemed to be a show that vanished into the ether. But, randomly, the Emmys remembered it. Law got snubbed, but Bateman got a nod.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Connor Storrie was nominated for his turn hosting \u201cSaturday Night Live.\u201d <span class=\"credit\">Will Heath\/NBC via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The \u201cHeated Rivalry\u201d breakout star, 25, was not eligible for an Emmy for his career-making role as Russian hockey player Ilya Rozanov \u2013 because the hockey romance show hails from a Canadian media company. However, the Emmys didn\u2019t leave him behind.
