Turbulence has hit the skies surrounding tech billionaire Peter Thiel after a flight attendant accused the investor\u2019s husband, Matt Danzeisen, of \u201cviolently\u201d throwing cooler bags at her aboard the couple\u2019s private jet \u2014 with her attorney accusing the wealthy pair of \u201cbullying\u201d their client.<\/p>\n
Danzeisen\u2019s team is claiming \u201cextortion\u201d and says that if<\/em> a \u201csoft fabric cooler bag,\u201d did \u201cbrush\u201d her leg, it was an accident \u2014 with his attorney blasting the accusations as a high-altitude \u201cshakedown.\u201d<\/p>\nPeter Thiel\u2019s husband Matt Danzeisen is being sued by a flight attendant for their private jet. Bloomberg via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\nIn a counterclaim filed July 7 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, flight attendant Stefanie Bojar alleges that Danzeisen \u2014 the Head of Private Investments at Thiel Capital \u2014 injured her on a July 27, 2024, flight from Sun Valley, Idaho, to Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n
According to the suit, the financier allegedly became angry when a bathroom was being used to \u201cstore several heavy cooler bags and kitchen equipment provided by the private chef,\u201d and \u201cwas temporarily obstructed.\u201d <\/p>\n\n<\/aside>\nDanzeisen \u201cdemanded immediate access,\u201d according to papers. As Bojar \u201cdragged two heavy cooler bags into the aisle and placed them to her right, Danzeisen abruptly shoved her aside and, in a violent outburst, began throwing the cooler bags directly at her,\u201d says the suit.<\/p>\nThiel has invested in numerous tech companies and cofounded Palantir Technologies. He is worth $27.5 billion. Getty Images for The Cambridge Union<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\nIn a dramatic description, Bojar claims that the bags hit \u201cher left ankle, foot and leg, and causing her to lose her balance, fall backward against the cabin wall, and collapse to the floor.\u201d She additionally claims he \u201calso threw a grocery bag containing food and beverages, causing food to spill across the cabin.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to the lawsuit, the alleged incident unfolded in front of Thiel \u2014 who is worth an estimated $27.5 billion\u2014 the couple\u2019s nanny, their three children and the aircraft\u2019s captain.<\/p>\n
Bojar goes on to allege that he entered the bathroom with his child and that she \u201cwas left lying on the floor in pain and in tears, humiliated in front of multiple witnesses and terrified that Danzeisen would emerge from the lavatory and attack her again.\u201d<\/p>\nA lawyer for Danziesen \u2014 shown here with Rachel Valentino, Halle Hammond, and Oliver Hammond at a wildlife benefit in 2025 \u2014 says the whole thing is a \u201cshakedown.\u201d Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\nBojar\u2019s filing comes in response to a lawsuit Danzeisen filed against her for breach of contract and declaratory relief in May, claiming Bojar \u201chas waged a campaign to extort\u201d him and Thiel, \u201cseeking millions because a soft fabric cooler bag allegedly made contact with her leg during a flight nearly two years ago.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to Danzeisen\u2019s suit, in order to \u201cmake way so his child could use the restroom before having an accident, Mr. Danzeisen moved the cooler bags out of the front lavatory as Ms. Bojar stood nearby,\u201d claiming no one saw her hit and that Bojar \u201cfabricated,\u201d the story.<\/p>\n

Getty Images for Uber, X and The Free Press<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\nThe papers also claim Bojar \u201claunched a defamation campaign against her targets to exert pressure on them,\u201d \u201cspread false rumors,\u201d and that by \u201ceven divulging the name of her passengers, let alone what allegedly occurred on flights, breached the confidentiality agreement she had signed.\u201d<\/p>\n
The suit also alleges that Bojar sent \u201ca demand letter, expressly threatening to sue Mr. Danzeisen and the Company for civil claims that exposed them to millions in potential damages.\u201d<\/p>\n
The suit claims that \u201cMr. Danzeisen requires court intervention to put an end to Ms. Bojar\u2019s shakedown.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to the papers, Bojar also filed a workers\u2019 compensation claim for the \u201caccident against the aircraft management company\u201d she worked for and \u201chas collected six figures and counting.\u201d <\/p>\nThe incident in question took place in 2024. They\u00a0look\u00a0at her as a flight attendant with no resources\u00a0and\u00a0thought they could scare her by filing this unmeritorious lawsuit against her.\u201d <\/p>\n
Following the flight, Bojar claims she sought medical care and was allegedly diagnosed with a \u201clongitudinal split tear of the peroneus brevis tendon of the left ankle,\u201d and \u201cultimately required left ankle surgery.\u201d<\/p>\nThe couple got married in October 2017 in Vienna, Austria. Getty Images for The Cambridge Union<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\nShe also claims \u201cinjuries to her lumbar spine and to her left lower extremity, including her left knee, ankle, and foot,\u201d that has require ongoing treatment \u201d for which she has required ongoing orthopedic treatment, \u201cas well as severe psychological injury.\u201d She also claims to be \u201cunable to return to her career as a flight attendant.\u201d<\/p>\n
In her counterclaim, Bojar denies characterizations that she is attempting \u201cextort\u201d and \u201cshakedown,\u201d the couple. <\/p>\n
Bojar \u2014 who was employed by the couple since 2022 and has flown more than 200 flight with them \u2014 also claims she was\u00a0\u201csubjected to repeated verbal abuse and humiliation by Danzeisen during her assignments,\u201d and that he\u00a0\u201croutinely yelled,\u201d \u201cbelittled her, and created a hostile and intimidating environment.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
