Kelly Bensimon just got a frightening dose of reality.<\/p>\n
The star of E!\u2019s \u201cGolden Life\u201d and celebrity chef Andrew Molen were injured Monday afternoon when they were involved in a violent head-on crash in Sarasota, Fla.<\/p>\n
We hear the pair were in an Uber, which turned left onto busy Tamiami Trail and was rammed by an oncoming car, causing the airbags to inflate. <\/p>\n
The smash sent Bensimon, Molen, and the driver of the other car to the hospital.<\/p>\nReality TV star Kelly Bensimon was in a serious car accident in Sarasota, Florida this week. Brian Zak\/Page Six<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\nCelebrity chef Andrew Molen was in the Uber with Bensimon and injured in the crash. \u201cMy right arm is a mess,\u201d the real estate agent tells us. \u201cMy head went straight into the back of the seat. It was really bad. I was unconscious for a couple seconds. I was freaking out. I thought I broke my arm.\u201d<\/p>\n
The former \u201cReal Housewives of New York City\u201d star says doctors performed X-rays on her arm and a CAT scan at the hospital. <\/p>\n
When we spoke Tuesday, she was still reeling. <\/p>\nThis is the car of the other driver involved in the crash. Kelly Bensimon<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\nThis is the Uber that Bensimon and chef Andrew Molen were in. Kelly Bensimon<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\u201cI am totally out of it, I am in so much pain,\u201d she said. \u201cMy head went back and banged [Andrew] on his chin. There were makeup marks on the airbag.\u201d<\/p>\n
Molen\u2014 a classically trained chef who swapped restaurant life to be a private chef for the ultra wealthy \u2014 saw the car coming and yelled \u201cbrake, brake,\u201d the pair recalled.<\/p>\n
\u201c[The other car] came straight on,\u201d Molen claimed. \u201cYou didn\u2019t hear brakes screech. He came straight in at full blast. We got hit so hard. Kelly went flying. I hit the ceiling. Airbags went off. There was dust everywhere.\u201d<\/p>\nAll the airbags in their vehicle were set off. Kelly Bensimon<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\nBensimon says her makeup came off an airbag from went her head hit. Kelly Bensimon<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\nMolen continued, \u201cKelly was out cold. She kept falling back,\u201d he said, \u201cThe car spun.\u201d<\/p>\n
Molen tells us he hurt his neck and will be going back to the doctor. He has already canceled five events this week. <\/p>\n
\u201cI am in a lot of pain,\u201d he said. \u201cThey had to help us into ambulances.\u201d<\/p>\nThey were taken by ambulance to the hospital. Kelly Bensimon<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\nWe\u2019re told the driver of the other car was taken into an ambulance in a stretcher.<\/p>\n
Both cars were Buicks. <\/p>\n
Bensimon was in town for an open house for her $22 million listing at 3315 Bay Shore Road. Molen was serving up food and doing kitchen demonstrations for the event. <\/p>\n
The pair were also filming an episode for a digital lifestyle series they are developing called \u201cThe Chef and the Housewife,\u201d which \u201cgoes beyond showcasing extraordinary properties by bringing ultra-high-net-worth living to life through food, entertaining, design, and the experiences that define exceptional homes,\u201d according to a release. <\/p>\nBensimon and Molen were filming for a new digital series they are developing called \u201cThe Chef and the Housewife.\u201d Patrick McMullan via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\nBensimon was showing a $22 million listing in the area and Molen was cooking for the open house.
