Absolutely. Could it be something else? Yet, her facial expressions are giving mixed messages,\u201d Stanton said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile she smiles, it doesn\u2019t fully engage the eyes or cheek muscles, and there are no crows feet, the key components of a genuine smile,\u201d he continued. \u201cOnly one muscle is active, indicating she is not as relaxed or happy as she wants to appear.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Judging from other nonverbal body language gestures like her \u201clip compression,\u201d Stanton believes she was \u201cmanaging how she comes across very carefully.\u201d <\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>The actress (seen here at the Met Gala 2026) lacked \u201cgenuine happiness,\u201d Stanton said.  <span class=\"credit\">AFP via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>\u201cWhile she smiles, it doesn\u2019t fully engage the eyes or cheek muscles, and there are no crows feet, the key components of a genuine smile,\u201d Stanton said of Lively (seen here at the Met Gala 2026).  <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cAlmost as if she wants to say something but is holding back,\u201d Stanton said. \u201cShe also appears slightly irritated by her dress, which she keeps hoisting up as she walks across the red carpet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>All of these signals point to Lively projecting a sense of being \u201cvery composed,\u201d while also \u201cfocused on navigating the red carpet and getting through the media frenzy and is not fully enjoying the experience,\u201d Stanton said.<\/p>\n<p>On Met Monday, Lively and Baldoni announced they had settled their court battle following their off-screen feud on the set of their 2024 film, \u201cIt Ends With Us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey finally came to an agreement today. She leaned into the \u201cFashion is Art\u201d dress code by carrying a custom Judith Leiber bag featuring her children\u2019s artwork.<\/p>\n<p>Brand expert Sarah Schmidt, president of interdependence PR, examined the reason behind Lively\u2019s choice to announce the settlement moments before attending the Vogue event. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Lively (seen here at court in February 2026) sued Justin Baldoni for sexual harassment in December 2024.  <span class=\"credit\">Gregory P. Mango for NY Post<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Baldoni (seen here at court in February 2026) responded with a $400 million countersuit.  <span class=\"credit\">William Farrington for NY Post<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cFor eighteen months, the dominant images of Blake Lively were of a woman walking into a federal courthouse,\u201d Schmidt said. \u201cMeanwhile, Justin Baldoni was quietly picking up public empathy and support online.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBlake and her team knew it,\u201d Schmidt continued. \u201cAnd after the judge gutted most of her case last month, she could see the narrative slipping.
