Jurgen Klopp might be adamant that he is enjoying life away from the dugout, but his name just refuses to leave the managerial gossip columns.
In recent weeks he has been forced to bat away fresh talk of a sensational move to Spain, with reports in Germany and Spain linking him with both Real Madrid and even city rivals Atletico Madrid as they consider their long‑term options.
Klopp has laughed off the suggestions, insisting there has been “no contact” from either club and describing some of the rumours as “nonsense”, while his agent Marc Kosicke has also publicly distanced the 58‑year‑old from the Bernabeu hot seat.
But the questions keep coming to the Liverpool legend.
Now speaking on the Peter Crouch Podcast, Klopp was asked if he misses management and whether he would be looking to come back into it soon – and refused to rule out a return in the future:
“No, no, no, I obviously have to say not yet because I still have time since I heard Roy Hodgson is coming back [laughs].”
“In this moment, there is nothing, I love what I do. I’m a busy man, which is good, because I’m not good when I have nothing to do to be honest.”
“Can enjoy family, can enjoy spare time, go on holiday but still work. At the moment I miss nothing [about management].”
The German did dip back into the game on his own terms, returning to Anfield during the March international break to help take charge of Liverpool Legends against Borussia Dortmund Legends in front of more than 60,000 supporters.
The sight of Klopp back in the home dugout, trading jokes with Steven Gerrard and Thiago and roaring along to “You’ll Never Walk Alone”, only fuelled more speculation that one day he could be tempted into a permanent comeback on Merseyside.
