Film fans are excited for the forthcoming feature which has an A-list Hollywood cast

Movie buffs are eager to catch the mysterious new film after the trailer dropped.

Audiences have been left champing at the bit after legendary studio A24, which is also behind Everything Everywhere All At Once, Moonlight, Netflix’s Beef, and Euphoria on HBO Max, dropped a trailer for an upcoming release.

The Invite directed by Don’t Worry Darling’s Olivia Wilde promises to take audiences on a journey like no other.

Starring Knocked Up’s Seth Rogen, Oscar winners Penélope Cruz and Edward Norton, as well as director Wilde, The Invite sees two couples enjoying a dinner party that ends up taking some unexpected twists and turns.

Along with the impressive cast, The Office star Rashida Jones and Will McCormack adapted the screenplay.

A trailer recently dropped on YouTube and has amassed nine million viewers, with many desperate to see the film.

One person posted: “When a trailer leaves you guessing instead of telling you the whole plot with 2-3 possible endings to it.”

A second commented, “This looks like a stage play on screen. Love how it’s shot.”

A third praised the cast: “Norton’s range will be studied for decades to come, genuinely insane how talented this guy is.” As another echoed similar sentiments: “Huge Range! Primal fear was a tremendous performance, American History X he’s unrecognizable, my favorite Fight Club, the list goes on and on. The Guy literally played Hulk and has done a Wes Anderson film. Pretty big range [sic].”

While another added: “I’m watching for Penélope Cruz and Edward Norton [sic].”

Someone else praised the studio: “A24 has mastered the genre of ‘why fantasies should remain fantasies.”

“Gives nothing away yet, so intriguing. I miss trailers like this,” added a fan. The Invite has been adapted from the Spanish 2020 film The People Upstairs (Sentimental).

This film was in turn adapted from Cesc Gay’s stage play Els veïns de dalt / Los vecinos de arriba.

While the trailer doesn’t give too much away, the original film saw one couple inviting their upstairs neighbours and quickly find secrets emerging through the night.

The Invite has been slated for a limited theatrical release in America on June 26 and in the UK and Ireland on July 3.

The movie was filmed last year and dedicated to the late, great Diane Keaton.

The Invite will be coming to cinemas this summer
