The cast of The Devil Wears Prada 2 appeared on The One Show on Friday

Meryl Steep has left many BBC viewers speechless.

Angellica Bell and Lauren Laverne were back on the green sofa on Friday’s (April 24) The One Show to discuss the day’s topical news stories.

They were also joined by the stars of The Devil Wears Prada 2 – Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, Anne Hathaway, Stanley Tucci and Simone Ashley – for their only TV interview ahead of the film’s release.

Meryl, Emily, Anne and Stanley have reprised their roles as Miranda Priestly, Emily Charlton, Andy Sachs, and Nigel Kipling in the film, while Bridgerton star Simone has joined the cast as Amari Mari, Miranda’s current first assistant.

BBC viewers quickly took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their delight at seeing the cast, while others were left speechless at Meryl’s ageless appearance.

“Wow. Top billing on the sofa tonight. I truly can’t believe it,” one person wrote, with another adding: “Anne Hathaway is the queen!”

A third said: “Meryl looks fantastic. Hasn’t aged a day since the first film,” with another person sharing: “Hard to believe Meryl is 76, she looks great, a woman aging naturally too!”

A fifth fan echoed the sentiment, saying: “How great does Meryl look what a quality woman,” with another commenting: “Meryl Streep we are not worthy. She’s always so classy, engaging and only her second sequel she’s ever made after Mamma Mia.”

Speaking about the film’s legacy, Meryl said: “Anne and I have been around the world, we’ve been to Mexico City, Tokyo, Seoul, Shanghai, here, and even LA, and New York… But the feeling, the anticipation, the affection for this film – I wasn’t prepared for that, honestly.

“I wasn’t prepared for it when we first started shooting. I’m not online, I’m like a dinosaur, but to feel that anticipation means that it meant so much to so many people… It means so much.”

Directed by David Frankel and written by Aline Brosh McKenna, the sequel to the 2006 film sees Andy return to Runway magazine as Miranda navigates a new media landscape and Runway’s position within it.

They are set to reconnect with another former assistant, Emily, who is now the head of a luxury brand that possesses funding which could ensure Runway’s survival.

As well as reuniting the original main cast, the film also introduces an all-new runway of stars including Kenneth Branagh, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, Patrick Brammall, Caleb Hearon, Helen J. Shen, Pauline Chalamet, B.J. Novak, and Conrad Ricamora.

The One Show airs weeknights on BBC One at 7pm, while The Devil Wears Prada 2 will be released in cinemas on May 1
