Arsenal have moved back to the top of the Premier League table following a narrow 1-0 victory over Newcastle United on Saturday.

The Gunners’ 200-day spell at the summit had been ended earlier in the week after Manchester City recorded a 1-0 win away at Burnley.

Mikel Arteta’s side went into the match at the Emirates Stadium in second place, level on points and goal difference with their title rivals.

Arsenal made a strong start and took the lead when Eberechi Eze finished into the top corner from Kai Havertz’s layoff.

There were no further goals as Arsenal held firm under sustained pressure from Newcastle in the second half to secure all three points.

The result takes Arsenal to 73 points, three ahead of Manchester City, who still have a game in hand.
