Victor Osimhen has revealed that both Dominik Szoboszlai and Ibrahima Konate contacted him following Liverpool’s commanding 4-0 Champions League victory over Galatasaray at Anfield.

Osimhen, who collided heavily with Konate, sustained a fractured forearm and was subsequently involved in a heated exchange with Liverpool players. Whilst the Nigerian forward received medical attention on the pitch, Liverpool midfielder Szoboszlai believed he was purposefully delaying proceedings and encouraged him to rise – a gesture Osimhen took exception to.

The moment the stretcher appeared on the turf, he sprang to his feet and confronted the Liverpool squad who had accused him of time-wasting.

Osimhen was subsequently withdrawn at the interval with former Manchester City star Leroy Sane introduced as his replacement. Following confirmation that he requires surgery on his arm, reports suggest he has chosen to travel to Nigeria before returning to Turkey for the procedure.

During a livestream with Carter Efe, he was quizzed about the incident at Anfield, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Osimhen said: “I’m not scared of anything. I’ve faced so much in life. Szoboszlai and I had an on-field conversation.

“After the game, he came up to me and said the team is not serious like that.

“Also, the guy who I was involved in the collision with, he reached out and messaged on Instagram.

“Konate also messaged me on Instagram and told me he didn’t mean to harm me. It’s football, these things happen.”

Galatasaray then endured another late injury setback when substitute Noa Lang seemed to have part of his thumb severed after it got caught between two advertising boards whilst attempting to keep the ball in play.

“Lang is going to hospital,” announced Galatasaray head coach Okan Buruk. “He has an issue with his finger, we will know what he has at the hospital and if he needs an operation.

“Osimhen said his arm was hurting and he wanted to get out of the game at half-time and he’s going to the hospital as well.”

Lang has since undergone surgery, with the forward having posted from hospital after staying behind on Merseyside while his teammates returned to Turkey.
