Andy Robertson’s Liverpool career is entering its final chapter. The 32-year-old is out of contract at Anfield at the end of the season and has already confirmed he will leave on a free transfer, bringing down the curtain on a glittering nine-year spell on Merseyside.
Spurs are currently in pole position to sign Robertson, having reopened discussions that first took place in January.
Back then Liverpool rebuffed interest from north London due to an ongoing injury crisis in defence, but with Milos Kerkez now firmly established as first-choice left-back, the club is prepared to let a modern legend move on.
Tottenham’s push is understood to hinge on one key condition – they must secure their Premier League status, with Roberto De Zerbi’s side hovering just above the relegation zone.
Now Sami Mokbel of the BBC has reported that Spurs are now in “advanced talks” to sign the Reds left-back:
“Tottenham are in advanced talks over a free transfer for Liverpool defender Andy Robertson this summer. Tottenham remain committed to signing the Scotland captain and while sources insist a full agreement is yet to be reached, discussions are understood to be at an advanced stage.”
“Any deal, however, is contingent on Spurs staying in the Premier League.”
For Robertson, the move would offer regular minutes and a fresh challenge after slipping down the pecking order at Liverpool this season.
Liverpool, meanwhile, face the emotional and sporting challenge of replacing not only an elite left-back but also a key figure in the squad’s leadership group. With no extension on the table, the club is expected to lean on Kerkez and explore options for in the marketto replace Robertson.
If talks continue to progress, Robertson’s final weeks at Anfield could quickly turn into a long goodbye before a high-profile switch to a Premier League rival is sealed.
