With Manchester United and Aston Villa also winning last weekend, and Chelsea suffering a fourth consecutive league defeat, the battle for the Champions League places suddenly looks less dramatic than it did just a few weeks ago.
But Liverpool’s hopes could still be impacted by the fitness and availability of its squad. The Reds finished Sunday’s Merseyside derby with their third-choice goalkeeper playing, Mohamed Salah operating as a makeshift no.9, while Curtis Jones also filled in at right-back. With a full week to recover, Arne Slot will hope to welcome players back in time for Saturday’s game against Crystal Palace. Here’s the latest on the Dutchman’s squad.

The goalkeeper collided with Beto in victory at the Hill Dickinson Stadium and could not continue. “It didn’t look great,” Slot said after the game.
“It was a big wound and he went straight to the hospital. Let’s see how that works out for him but fear worst – not for a long-term injury but for next week.”

Alisson
The goalkeeper has not played in over a month, missing the last six games due to a recurring hamstring injury. Slot said before the second leg against Paris Saint-Germain that Alisson had not returned to training, but no update has since been provided.
The end of April has always been earmarked as a possible return date, and with Saturday’s game against Palace the last of the month, he could be in line to feature. That seems a tad ambitious at this stage, and the following week against Manchester United looks more likely.

Joe Gomez
The 28-year-old was replaced against PSG on Tuesday and, despite Slot claiming he was not injured, Gomez was then ruled out of the derby through an unspecified injury. Slot has provided no information on the severity of the issue, but it’s hoped he could be available to face Palace.

Hugo Ekitike
The summer arrival suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon in the defeat to PSG and has been ruled out for the remainder of the season. Sadly, Ekitike will not be able to play at next summer’s World Cup.

Conor Bradley
The academy graduate has not played since picking up a serious knee injury at Arsenal in January. While he won’t play again this season, it is hoped Bradley will be ready for the start of the 2026/27 campaign.

Wataru Endo
The Japan captain could be in line for a busy summer at the World Cup, if he has recovered from an ankle injury in time. Endo has not been available since coming off in the win at Sunderland in February, and it’s unclear whether the midfielder will be fit in time to play a part for Japan this summer.

Giovanni Leoni
The center-back suffered an unfortunate season-ending injury on his debut, and the Italian is not expected to return before the start of the new campaign.
