Barcelona are monitoring Yan Diomande as a potential long-term reinforcement for their wide areas.
For Liverpool supporters already bracing for the departure of Mohamed Salah, the emergence of Yan Diomande feels particularly relevant.
The 19-year-old winger has quickly become one of the most talked-about young players in European football, and his development is now drawing attention from several top clubs.
After moving from Leganés to RB Leipzig in 2025, Diomande wasted no time making an impact. He scored on his debut and quickly established himself as a key figure in the squad.
His numbers this season underline his importance.
He has registered 11 goals and 8 assists across all competitions, while also leading the Bundesliga in duels won.
That combination of attacking output and defensive work makes him stand out.
His pace is another major weapon.
With a recorded top speed of 36.3 km/h, he is among the fastest players in Germany. He is also versatile, capable of playing on either wing, although he is most dangerous cutting in from the right.
For Liverpool fans, it is easy to see why he is viewed as a natural successor profile to Salah.
It is no surprise, then, that Barcelona are now closely tracking his progress.
The Spanish, according to SPORT, side see him as a long-term option to strengthen their wide areas, but the situation is far from straightforward.
The report read, “Barcelona has intensified its search for a left winger due to the potential situation with Marcus Rashford, a player who has performed well but whose transfer fee exceeds the club’s budget.”
“The Catalan club’s aim is to sign a left-footed specialist with potential in the transfer market, and a shortlist is already fairly well defined.”
“The sporting director’s virtually impossible dream is Yan Diomande, the Leipzig player who has absolutely broken out this season.”
“Barcelona scouts have been following Diomande for some time, ever since his time at Leganés.”
“The Ivorian winger became one of the biggest transfers in the Second Division when he joined Leipzig for €20 million after a brilliant spell at the Madrid club.”
The first issue is financial.
Diomande’s value has skyrocketed, with Chelsea and Liverpool both reportedly ready to spend heavily.
RB Leipzig have placed a €100 million valuation on him, and he remains under contract until 2030, which gives them full control over any negotiations.
The second issue is priority.
Barcelona are currently focusing on signing a centre-forward and a left-footed centre-back, meaning a move for Diomande is not urgent.
However, they continue to monitor him closely and could act if there is a departure in their attack.
From a Liverpool standpoint, this is one to watch closely.
The interest is real, the competition is growing, and the price is only heading in one direction.
