The Other Bennet Sister has just two more episodes left to air before Mary Bennet’s story concludes.
The Other Bennet Sister is drawing to a close, with the BBC finally revealing what will replace it in its coveted Sunday evening slot.
Just two episodes of the “charming” The Other Bennet Sister remain, airing on BBC One this evening, Sunday, April 12, before Mary Bennet’s (played by Ella Bruccoleri) story concludes for good.
She will be granted access to some personal belongings of the much-loved Queen and “cherished mementos, including childhood clothes and the coronation gown”.
The official synopsis states: “Fiona is given unique access to a selection of Queen Elizabeth’s clothes, now part of the Royal Collection Trust and set to go on display in a special exhibition at the King’s Gallery at Buckingham Palace.”
It remains unclear when another drama will occupy this Sunday night slot beyond next week, with fans unlikely to learn more until closer to the time.
Whatever The Other Bennet Sister’s long-term replacement turns out to be, it will have considerable expectations to meet following the widespread enthusiasm surrounding the period drama.
Adapted from Janice Hadlow’s novel of the same name, the 10-part series charts Elizabeth Bennet’s (Poppy Gilbert) sister, Mary, on a voyage of self-discovery.
Despite being regarded as the least attractive sister in her dysfunctional family, Mary succeeds in making a fresh start, building her newly discovered self-assurance, and finding romance.
Taking to IMDb to heap praise on The Other Bennet Sister, which boasts an impressive 92% on Rotten Tomatoes, one fan described it as “charming, heartbreaking and touching”.
They went on: “Such a lovely and well-executed story. Loved every minute of it! The characters develop so masterfully, and the filming is on the highest level.
“Thank you for such a wonderful show!”
A second viewer agreed: “For any fans of period drama, this is for you. You cannot help but root for Mary and she is now my favourite fictional character.”
