TV chef arrested on suspicion of rape and sexual assault and released on bail

A TV chef was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and rape last month and released on bail as enquiries into the alleged offence continue

A TV chef was arrested on suspicion of rape and sexual assault last month. The TV star was reportedly detained at his home after the alleged offences were reported to the police.

He was arrested on suspicion of rape, sexual assault and causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent. After being arrested, the chef was taken into custody and questioned for several hours at a police station in Central London before being released on bail.

The arrest was first reported by The Telegraph, who said a A Scotland Yard spokesman confirmed an arrest had been made following the alleged victim’s complaint and that she was being supported by specially trained officers as the investigation went on.

The spokesperson told The Telegraph: “A man was arrested on suspicion of rape, sexual assault and causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent on Saturday, 11 April. This relates to sexual offences which reportedly occurred at an address in January.”

They added that the woman was thought to have first contacted the police in April and the alleged offences were said to have taken place in London in January. The Telegraph also reported that the man arrested in early April had been on multiple TV programmes.

Little else is known about the case, other than that enquiries are ongoing and the chef has been released on bail. He is not thought to have been charged with a crime as of yet. As such, the CPS have not yet been involved.
