A man and a teenager have been taken to hospital after suffering gunshot wounds on a residential street in Solihull – with their injuries believed to be life-threatening

A teenage boy and man have been rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries after the pair were shot on a residential street in Solihull.

The incident unfolded on Vauxhall Crescent at around 2.30am today, Monday, June 15, with police yet to make any arrests as inquiries to trace the perpetrator continue.

One resident reported hearing “at least four gunshots last night,” reports Birmingham Live.

A blue police forensic tent was set up while officers scoured the area for evidence.

“We are investigating after shots were fired in Vauxhall Crescent, Smith’s Wood, this morning,” a police spokesman said.

“We were called after a man and a teenage boy were injured just before 2.40am today (15 June).

“They were taken to hospital with gunshot wounds with their injuries initially believed to be life-threatening. Our investigation is in its early stages. We will have officers in the area carrying out reassurance patrols.

“Anyone with information, or who may have been in the area at the time to get in contact on 101 or via the Live Chat option on our website quoting incident number 313 of 15 June.

An ambulance spokeswoman said: “We were called to Vauxhall Crescent, Castle Bromwich at 2.35am this morning.

“Two paramedic officers, two ambulances, a MERIT trauma team, HART paramedics and a Critical Care car from The Air Ambulance Service responded to the incident. Two people received trauma care for serious injuries.

“They were conveyed on blue lights and sirens to hospital for further specialist care.”
