Sweetbriar Road in Leicester’s Westcotes neighbourhood was flooded with cops today after reports of an assault on a man in the area – Leicestershire Police said a 51-year-old woman had been arrested

Police have descended on a quiet residential street with homes cordonned off and a woman arrested following an incident earlier today.

Cops swooped on Sweetbriar Road in Leicester’s Westcotes neighbourhood this morning amid reports of an assault.

Leicestershire Police said officers were called at 11.25am on Sunday, May 10 to reports report related to the assault of a man in the street.

Pictures show a large police presence at the scene with multiple vehicles and officers present Sweetbriar Road this afternoon, Leicestershire Live reports.

The force said a 51-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent. She remains in custody.

A 33-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment. A police cordon remains in place which covers several homes.

Police say an investigation is in its very early stages, and officers are carrying out inquiries locally to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
