Anna Van Patten’s “Euphoria” character needed a lot of behind-the-scenes work.

The actress detailed the “fascinating” process of creating the prosthetic Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) for her character Kitty, featured in the HBO series’ shocking Season 3 finale, when the fictional stripper was sent over the border into Mexico to get the procedure.

“The prosthetic chapter of my ‘Euphoria’ experience was wild,” Van Patten told TV Insider Tuesday, revealing that she “first had to get a butt scan.”

“Because we shot that Silver Slipper shootout scene… it was a 10-day shoot, so I wore [a prosthetic butt] every day for 10 days, and it would take maybe two hours to put on,” she explained.

She told the outlet that as shooting went on, the process of putting on the prosthetic “got a lot faster,” but she wasn’t allowed to sit down while wearing it. In turn, production “built [her] a leaning contraption” to rest on while she wasn’t filming.

While Van Patten admitted the whole process was “really challenging,” she also said it was “so funny in a way.”

“So many people thought it was real. The girls in the club, they thought it was my real butt, so in person, it really did look so real … they drew on veins, drew on freckles, it was the whole process, but it was fascinating.”

Van Patten joined the cast of “Euphoria” for Season 3. Her character, Kitty, is a sweet yet naive stripper who works for the villainous club owner, Alamo Brown, played by Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje.

Kitty’s BBL wasn’t the only thing that shocked viewers during the finale. Fans were devastated as the show’s protagonist, Rue Bennett, died of a fentanyl overdose.

However, creator Sam Levinson defended the decision to kill off Rue in a post-finale HBO interview, noting that her fate was the most “honest ending” for the show.

The beloved character’s death sequence also paid tribute to late cast member Angus Cloud, who accidentally overdosed in July 2023 at 25, as never-seen-before footage of his character Fezco “Fez” O’Neill was used.

“People relapse. They f–k up. They’re not ready to get clean,” Levinson explained. “There’s no reason to sugarcoat it. I wanted to tell this story for Angus and for people who weren’t granted a second chance.”

When Van Patten was asked if she thinks Kitty knew of Rue’s tragic passing, which was orchestrated by Alamo Brown, she said no.

“I don’t think she would have known what happened to Rue,” she told the outlet. “I think Kitty really tries to see the best in people, and I think lots of people aren’t telling her things.

So she’s left to figure it all out on her own, and she doesn’t know where to put her trust because so many different things are happening.”

And fans may never know the truth, as Levinson has claimed Season 3 was the show’s final installment.
