Two young girls have allegedly been grabbed by a man carrying a silver suitcase in a town in England.
The incident happened as the individual approached two girls, aged five and six, on Allendale Road in Ormesby, near Middlesborough, at around 3.45pm on Monday. Cleveland Police said the man reportedly tried grabbing the children by their wrists.
A spokesperson for the force said: “When they refused, the man tried to entice them, and they managed to run away.” The suspect was described as a white male, of slim build, wearing black or dark clothing and only one shoe and carrying a silver suitcase.
A 38-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday night as part of an investigation into the incident. He remained in custody this morning.
Before the arrest, acting Sergeant Donnelly from Greater Eston Neighbourhood Team, said: “This incident will understandably have caused some concern for our communities. We have carried out a number of inquiries already, including speaking with the victims, the local school, CCTV inquiries and having officers speaking to people in the local area.”
