Detective Inspector Sarah Bradley of Kirklees CID said that police believe it to have been a “targeted” attack with the investigation at an early stage.

She stated: “This is a very serious incident where a woman has suffered serious injuries. Extensive enquiries are ongoing this morning including house to house and CCTV.

“Whilst the investigation is at an early stage, we believe this incident was targeted and there is no wider threat to the public.
