Jack Antonoff raved about his marriage to Margaret Qualley in an interview on the “Today” show just one month before their shocking split.
But in an awkward exchange with “Today” anchor Craig Melvin in May, Antonoff declared that he loved being married.
During the interview, Melvin asked Antonoff if he was “going to any big weddings this summer,” clearly referring to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s star-studded wedding at Madison Square Garden on July 3. The music producer — who’s a longtime collaborator of Swift’s — dodged the question, instead asking Melvin about his own marriage.
After Melvin said he’s been happily married for 15 years (to his wife, Lindsay Czarniak), the anchor again asked Antonoff if he was going to any big weddings this summer, to which he uncomfortably replied, “Uh, I hope. Yeah, I hope so, man.”
When Melvin asked him where, Antonoff quickly shut down the question with a laugh, noting, “Uh yeah. I love being married, man. I’m happy you love being married too!”
Antonoff did attend Swift and Kelce’s wedding, though not with Qualley. Instead, he was spotted with his older sister, designer Rachel Antonoff. Qualley’s absence from both the wedding and the rehearsal dinner the night prior sparked rumors of trouble in the two’s marriage.
“Jack could be very particular about how he liked things,” a source exclusively told us. “He’d often prefer for things to be done the way he thought was best, and Margaret didn’t always feel like her perspective was being heard or given the same weight.”
“Communication was definitely a challenge between him and Margaret,” the insider added.
Another source told us that the two are “figuring things out.”
The Bleachers frontman and “The Substance” actress got married in August 2023 in an intimate New Jersey wedding.
The wedding had several A-listers in attendance, including Swift, Zoë Kravitz, Channing Tatum, Lana Del Rey and the bride’s mother, actress Andie MacDowell.
