The settlement is sealed, but court docs reflect that the settlement was filed May 4.
āJenny Paulson and John Paulson have come to the decision to amicably settle their divorce and trust-related litigations,ā said Jennyās attorney Robert S. Cohen, and Johnās attorney Marilyn Chinitz, in a joint statement on Wednesday. āThey consider this settlement a private matter and neither party nor any family nor friends of the parties will have any further comment.ā
The settlement marks the end of a years-long bitter legal battle between the exes.
Back in July 2022, Jenny accused the billionaire of setting up a āsecretive web of trustsā to hide money from her,Ā according to court documents. Paulsonās side denied the accusation, saying in court docs that the trusts were set up together decades ago to protect their kids.
We reported in 2024 that John had offered Jenny hundreds of millions in cashĀ in their divorce after 21 years of marriageĀ ā but that Jenny called the offer āhumiliating and demeaning.ā
āIn my heart and my spirit I feel I deserve a 50/50 splitā she wrote in an email, we reported. Or, ā60/40 is OK because there have been other similar divorce arrangements.ā She also called her exās offers Ā ādisrespectful, shameful and humiliating,ā we reported.
His side countered that his offer would make Jenny, āone of the richest women in America,ā while keeping major trusts in place for their daughters.
The divorce also sparked a war of words between the exesā attorneys, with Cohen once quipping of John, āThe man is worth billions of dollars⦠and Mr.Ā PaulsonĀ offered Mrs. PaulsonĀ only a monthly āallowance,’ā adding at the time, āThatās called chutzpah ā or in English, hypocrisy!ā Chinitz of Blank Rome fired back at the time in a comment, āIn what universe is hundreds of millions in upfront cash, plus annual eight-figure distributions for the rest of her life ā all tax free ā considered an āallowance?āā

But it seems peace has prevailed, and neither side commented on the final settlement besides their joint statement.
A source told us of the settlement, āThe talks began in earnest earlier this year,ā adding that a judge in the case encouraged the parties to engage in settlement talks. āItās fair to everybody.ā
The former spousesĀ were also at war over estates in the Hamptons and Aspen, Colo., and they did not have a prenup, we reported.
John famously made billions betting against the housing market before the 2008 crash, and heās reported to be worth about $4.7 billion.
Paulson, 70, gotĀ engaged to his girlfriend, Alina de Almeida, 38, in 2024, and the couple welcomed a daughter last year, we reported.
