A New York Times reporter wooed a pop star with a midnight tour of its famed Times Square headquarters — and then made out with her in the paper’s conference room!
Rogers joined singer Rosalia onstage at MSG as part of the latter’s LUX tour. Rosalia has a schtick where she invites famous fans on stage to give a confession as if they were in a Catholic church (“Saturday Night Live’s Marcello Hernandez has also “confessed” during the tour).
It was there that she told thousands of fans that, “A little while ago, I was single and a friend of mine said, ‘I’ve got someone for you to go on a date with.’” Rogers said she noted the fella “was handsome” and agreed to a night out.
She said that they’d taken a spin around the city in his vintage car, and she found herself “falling in love a little bit.”
“Suddenly he says, ‘Oh my God. We’re actually really close to the office. Can I take you to the New York Times?’”
“We go in and he gives me a full empty tour of the building. We make out in the conference room. It’s like a really good time. He drives me home, we make out in the car,” she said.
Fast forward to the next morning and she was calling up girlfriends — and one of her gobsmacked friends spilled, “Oh my God. That’s my friend’s boyfriend.”
Without mentioning his name, she concluded, “That’s my story. That’s my confession. I mean, what a loser. You just can’t trust a journalist.”
Breaker’s Lachlan Cartwright was the first to expose Hiltner as Rogers’ alleged mystery man. He wrote Hiltner deleted photos of his vintage wheels from his Instagram following reports from Rogers’ show.
A spokesperson for the New York Times declined to comment and a rep for Rogers did not get back to us.
