A three‑year‑old boy remains critical hospital after being thrown into a crocodile enclosure at a Cambridgeshire zoo with a 30-year-old man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder

A man who allegedly threw a three-year-old boy into a crocodile enclosure before the youngster was rushed to hospital with critical injuries has been released on bail after being assessed as “not fit for interview”.
Police were called to Johnson’s of Old Hurst yesterday to reports that the boy had suffered serious injuries while in the enclosure before staff at the zoo pulled him out. The child remains in hospital in a critical but stable condition, police say.
A 30-year-old man from Norfolk, arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, has been released on bail while detectives conduct further enquiries. The man, who is not known to the victim, was assessed as not being fit for interview, police said.
Det Insp Verity McCann of Cambridgeshire Police said: “Our enquiries are ongoing as we continue to understand the circumstances surrounding this distressing incident.
“Our thoughts remain with the boy, and his family and specialist officers continue to support them through this difficult time.”
The 30-year-old man has been bailed until September 18.
