Olivia Rodrigo is perhaps a bit sour.

The “Good 4 U” singer skipped the 2026 Met Gala, despite being in New York City — and attending one of the night’s after-parties.

Rodrigo discussed the highly publicized event on May 29th’s “New York Times Popcast,” demurring, “I’m not really a fashion girl,” she qualified. “Really, I’m not a fashion girl.”

To that, host Jon Caramanica protested: “Candidly, many people who attend the Met Gala are not fashion people.”

After considering her words carefully, the pop star said, “This is my third album, I don’t feel like I need to do things that don’t bring me joy or inspire me or fuel me or feel aligned with my values.”

She added, “It’s not as fun or exciting anymore,” and agreed with host Joe Santagato that she’s at a point in her career where she can be “more discerning.”

The 23-year-old has attended the Met Gala three times — and hit up this year’s Saint Laurent after-party in a vintage Vivienne Westwood minidress. She last appeared on the Metropolitan Museum of Art steps in 2023, wearing a black-and-white rosette-trimmed gown by Thom Browne.

Though Rodrigo might not qualify herself as a fashion girl, she’s recently the center of a debate over the babydoll dresses she’s worn on stage to kick off her “You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So In Love.”

On the same NYTimes podcast, Rodriguez stated, “I didn’t think that I looked sexy in that at all. I was like, this is so cool. I feel like I look like Kathleen Hanna or Courtney Love, all these people who are my heroes.”

“I just think it shows how we really normalize pedophilia in our culture,” she pointedly concluded.
