Two funeral homes in Lancashire have been raided by police, with two people arrested on suspicion of fraud by false representation
Two funeral homes in Lancashire have been raided by police.
Two people were arrested on suspicion of fraud by false representation as officers raided two Martin’s Funeral Directors properties at Tulketh Brow in Ashton-on-Ribble and Stonebridge Parade in Longridge on Tuesday. Police also carried out searches at a private address in The Friars in Fulwood.
There was a large police presence at the scene in Tulketh Brow on Tuesday afternoon, including forensic officers and a dogs unit, Lancashire Live reports.
Lancashire Police said the raids come after they were contacted earlier this month “in relation to concerns about some of the practices at Martin’s Funeral Directors”.
A man in his 60s and a woman in her 50s, both from Preston, have been arrested and remain in custody for questioning.
A force spokesperson said: “We appreciate that reading about this may cause concern but while enquiries remain at this early stage it would be inappropriate to comment any further.”
Anyone with information or concerns is asked to contact police on 101, quoting log 0212 of April 28.
