Selena Gomez’s mom, Mandy Teefey, is attempting to put out a social media fire that she started herself.

After sharing an Instagram post Sunday — that many fans took to be a dig at Gomez and the pop star’s younger half-sister, Gracie — Teefey responded to one fan, claiming it was all in good fun.

“Girl. It’s typically moms not cool joke,” her reply read. “Calm down. lol.”

Teefey’s reply was directly under a person’s comment that slammed the mom of two for stoking the fanbase with her “confusing” upload.

“WTF, Mandy. If you’re having issues with them, you shouldn’t post this on social media. People will take it out of context and keep hating on Selena,” the user argued. “I don’t know what’s going on, but go talk to your daughter instead of creating drama.”

The hubbub all began when Teefey, 50, posted a mirror selfie of Gomez, 33, and Gracie, 13, in a carousel Instagram post with the caption that began, “My greatest accomplishments, love me or not.”

“They are the coolest. I one day they will see what a bad ass I am and love me back as much as I love them. I’m just mom,” she wrote. “Who never gives up when they throw me in the trash. I tell ya mom you’re doing it wrong, maybe so, we will see. But no matter what I got your back.”

Many social media users took issue with Teefey (seen above in a selfie) for “creating drama” online and calling her out “strange choice” to share the post. Instagram/@mandyteefey

One slide featured a photo of a doll in a trashcan and the phrase, “Me when I have to run the business I manifested.” Another read, “She outgrew what drained her” written in the form of a neon sign.

A third stated, “Just to be clear, I’m that loyal friend who would take a bullet for you. But I’m probably also the reason we’re getting shot at. Balance matters.”

The post drew negative reactions from some fans, with one responding, “Posting about this as the parent is quite a strange choice queen 💔.”

Others, meanwhile, defended Teefey for others taking her words “out of context” and praised her for raising two “wonderful” and “amazing” daughters.

Teefey, who co-founded the mental health organization Wondermind with Gomez in 2022 and runs the company as CEO, celebrated the “Wizards of Waverly Place” alum’s wedding to Benny Blanco last September.
