Warning: Spoilers ahead for Season 3 of “Euphoria.”
Angry OnlyFans models are speaking out against Sydney Sweeney’s surprising OnlyFans storyline in the newest season of “Euphoria.”
“There’s just a lot that’s ridiculous and cartoonish about it,” Sydney Leathers, a content creator who joined the subscription-based platform in 2017, told Variety in an interview published Sunday.
“There’s so much that they have her doing that is not even allowed on OnlyFans, and that alone is infuriating: the age-play stuff where she’s dressed as a baby in a diaper, for example,” she added.
Sweeney’s “Euphoria” character, Cassie, surprised viewers when it was revealed she created an OnlyFans account to pay for the $50,000 flowers she wanted for her wedding to Jacob Elordi’s Nate.
Episode 1 of the HBO hit’s third season saw Cassie dressed as a dog in a brown corset, with a tail and ears and all, while straddling a doghouse for her OnlyFans page.
Cassie’s content only escalated from there, and she went on to dress as a baby in Episode 2 of the young adult drama’s new season.
This scene saw Sweeney’s character sporting pigtails and dressed in a white diaper while sucking on a pink pacifier – something that violates the “Acceptable Use Policy” put in place by OnlyFans.
“Illegal activity, including actual, claimed, or role-played: exploitation, abuse, or harm of individuals under the age of 18; incest; bestiality; necrophilia; rape or sexual assault; and any content or conduct that promotes terrorism,” the platform’s official website reads.
OnlyFans model Maitland Ward, an actress who starred in “Boy Meets World” and “White Chicks” before joining the platform, slammed both Cassie’s baby costume and the way OnlyFans is portrayed throughout Season 3 of “Euphoria.”
“In the climate we’re in, that they dressed her up as a baby to make pornographic OnlyFans content was beyond troubling and again serves to perpetuate stereotypes that sex workers have no moral compass and that they will do anything for money,” Ward told Variety.
“And there’s always this untrue stigma that somehow sex work is synonymous with sex trafficking and abuse,” she added. “And they just said, let’s make a joke of it. That is so funny. I’m not laughing.”
The top OnlyFans creator went on to slam series creator Sam Levinson, who opened up about the “humor” and “absurdity” of Cassie’s storyline during a chat with the Hollywood Reporter last month.
“That speaks volumes to me about why this OnlyFans storyline is being represented in the way that it is. It’s not being taken seriously,” Ward argued.
“It reminds me of when I pranced around in lingerie on ‘Boy Meets World,’” she continued. “It’s just the guys in the writer’s room coming up with their fantasies.”
Alix Lynx, another popular OnlyFans model, pointed out that “Euphoria” fails to show the hard work real-life creators put into their content and the struggle it takes to maintain a strong following.
“It’s portrayed that if you just dress up and do crazy s–t, you’ll instantly make money, or you just have to be hot and have big boobs and you’ll instantly cash out, and it doesn’t work like that,” Lynx told the outlet.
“You have to really grow and nurture a fan base,” she concluded.
But Leathers, Ward and Lynx aren’t the only ones pushing back on Sweeney’s storyline this season, because fans have taken to social media to roast Cassie and her OnlyFans aspirations.
Episode 5, which was released on Sunday night, opened with Cassie dreaming about her growing success as an OnlyFans model.
Dressed in a cheetah-print bodysuit, Sweeney’s character rapidly grows bigger and bigger until she is towering over the city.
Then, during a non-dream sequence later in the episode, Cassie sucks her toe and exposes her chest while filming content for a client.
“They got Sydney Sweeney doing Godzilla porn on Euphoria,” one viewer tweeted during the episode. “Wrap this s–t up man.”
“Why the F–K is sydney sweeny [sic] sucking her own toes in euphoria bro,” commented another.
