Considering the Met Gala 2026 dress code was “Fashion Is Art” — a nod to the museum’s new exhibition, “Costume Art” — it’s no surprise Monday night’s best red carpet looks leaned sculptural, painterly and cinematic.

Some of the celebrities in attendance drew inspiration from specific works across artistic mediums. Sabrina Carpenter’s Dior dress paid homage to Audrey Hepburn’s 1954 film “Sabrina,” for instance, while Kendall Jenner’s GapStudio gown was modeled after “Winged Victory of Samothrace” and Gracie Abrams’ Chanel look was like a Klimt painting come to life.

Others used the exhibition’s exploration of clothed and naked bodies as a jumping-off point — like Chase Infiniti, clad in trompe l’oeil Thom Browne, and Hailey Bieber, whose Saint Laurent look included a sculpted breastplate crafted from 24-karat gold. Co-chair Beyoncé, one of the final stars to walk the carpet, even arrived in an Olivier Rousteing creation featuring a sparkling silver skeleton.
