Two people have been killed in a shooting, with three more injured, at a Dallas shopping centre, leaving a ‘peaceful community’ in shock after the suspect was chased down by police

Two people have been killed in a shopping centre in the US, leaving a ‘peaceful community’ in shock.

A man shot five people after meeting at the complex north of Dallas in Texas, according to police. Carrollton Police Chief Roberto Arredondo said that the suspect knew both of the people killed.

“It was a known business relationship. We’re still trying to work to identify what caused his actions,” Arredondo said.

Seung Han Ho, 69, was arrested after a short chase by police approximately four miles away at a grocery store.

Police were at a nearby apartment complex where Ho was listed as having recently lived however neighbours said they didn’t recognise the name.

A further three people were injured in the shooting, but police confirmed they are in a stable condition.

Armed officers and agents from the FBI were among law enforcement collecting evidence in the carpark following the incident.

Carrollton is 20 miles north of Dallas and home to more than 4,000 residents of Korean descent, according to the US Census Bureau.

“We’re shocked,” said John Jun, who’s active in the Korean American community. “We’re not immune to something like this happening, but we are very generally a peaceful community that works hard.”

The city is home to multiple Korean churches from Baptist to Presbyterian.

In the last 20 years, it has grown into a thriving Koreatown for the metro Dallas area.

It’s anchored by big-box businesses like H Mart as well as dozens of restaurants serving everything from Korean fried chicken to shaved ice desserts.
