ITV has revealed which star will be taking the hot seat in the next instalment of The Assembly
ITV has revealed the sixth celebrity who is set for a no-holds-barred grilling in the second series of The Assembly.
TV and radio star Rylan Clark – who is known for programmes such as This Morning, Strictly Come Dancing spin-off It Takes Two and his travel series with Rob Rinder – will be taking the hot seat in the latest outing of the ITV show.
The BAFTA-nominated series sees a group of inquisitive interviewers – who are autistic, neurodivergent and/or learning disabled – put their unique questions to famous faces.
The second series started earlier this month and so far it has already welcomed the likes of national treasure Sir Stephen Fry, former Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, comedy legend Sir Lenny Henry and Motherland actress Anna Maxwell Martin.
The fifth instalment on April 22 will see BRIT award-winning rapper and I’m A Celebrity star Aitch getting quizzed, while Rylan’s episode is due to air in May.
He will be seen being questioned by the group, where no question is off the table and no topic out-of-bounds.
The names of the other celebs taking part in this series were confirmed in March, but Rylan’s name has only just been revealed.
The Assembly, an adaptation of French format Les Rencontres du Papotin, started last year and was a huge hit.
The first run of the TV hit saw big name stars such as EastEnders legend Danny Dyer, Rivals actor David Tennant and Little Mix singer Jade Thirlwall taking their turn at being grilled by the group of interviewers.
As the line-up for season two of the show was revealed, Katie Rawcliffe, director of entertainment, reality and daytime commissioning at ITV, said: “This line-up really does offer something for everyone – The Assembly’s no-holds-barred questions throw up all kinds of surprising revelations.”
David Smyth, entertainment commissioning editor at ITV, added: “The Assembly are raring to go and with such a unique mix of famous faces to interview, they will have a ball coming up with their next set of questions.”
“These celebrities really do need to be ready for anything,” he continued.
Rylan’s episode of The Assembly will air next month across ITV1 and ITVX, STV and STV Player. Both the first series and opening five episodes of series two are available to stream now.
